It is not clear to me how to satisfy the requirement for 30% of radiology orders and 30% of laboratory orders to be ordered through CPOE. Can this be accomplished by using the Write Orders function and just sending it to a staff member in the office?

Hi Ted,

Yes, simply using the "Write Orders" function to order Lab or Rad orders will satisfy the requirement. It does not matter who you send the order to (you can even use the "Save without sending" option), but if there is a staff member entering orders for you, make sure that they list you under "Ordering physician" BEFORE selecting the orders.

Another word of caution about this, every lab order (on the labs tab) created this way will also go toward the denominator for Core 10: Lab Results. So if you are testing functionality, make sure you put another name under the ordering provider or the denominator will become inflated by "fake" orders.
