I am getting ready to use updox and have a list of folders that I want in the imported section (ie: cardiology, gastroenterology, mammogram, ct, emg, etc.). I have been told by ac that I cannot add folders. What does everyone else do? I don't want just a bunch of documents that I cannot find what I need in a year. tx, trish

Yeah unfortunately I don't think its possible to create folders through AC, but you can do this with Updox. I've created similar folders in Updox. I think in Updox they are called "categories" but they relate directly to the folder names in Imported Items of AC. This is somewhere in the settings of Updox and I'm sorry I don't know the exact menu steps to click through because I'm not at a PC with Updox. I'll try and get back with the exact steps.

OK, here are the steps. In Updox select Admin, select Practice Profile and in the window that opens up choose the Categories section. There you'll find a list of categories that you can add to/delete and organize. Again these categories are going to create folders titled exactly as you name them in Updox. We've got quite a few for every specialty we've encountered: ![[Linked Image from amazingcharts.com]](http://amazingcharts.com/ub/attachments/usergals/2014/09/full-3802-664-categories.png)

great tx. So, if I get what you are saying- you put them in the folder in updox and then they will show up as if in a folder in ac? tv

Trish,
You can name folders anything you want in Updox and can change the order in which they appear. When you file through Updox it will show up in AC in the imported items section under a folder you named. This has been the most useful feature of Updox for us.

Yes that is right. Every Updox category will make a folder in AC. Note, however that a folder will only be created in AC "as needed." This just means, for example, that if you have never imported a radiology report into a patient's chart from Updox, then he/she will not have a Radiology folder. It keeps Imported Items neat and clean.

Does anyone know if there is a way to hide old items? It would be nice if each folder had a sub folder for each year, so that everything in Radiology that was imported in 2013 could be minimized automatically (unless clicked to open), so that when going to imported items the lists aren't so long and junky looking. That way, only things from the current year were expanded.

This has been a request from many of us for years. Version 6 allowed the folders to be displayed either all opened or all closed, but still not able to be selective. I know nothing about SQL databases and programming, but I have to believe that creating a customized filing system like we request is possible. It should also be possible to select items to display by date, since all items in Imported Items have a date associated. Maybe version 8?
