We have been getting persistent "Runtime error" while using AC for the past month. Typically it occurs when attempting to open a chart or when adding a new ICD code to an open note. We all use client computers and it occurs on all clients and I have been able to duplicate the problem on the server. When you try to open a chart - the working icon/cursor appears and it cycles for about 30-45 seconds then a window opens that says "runtime error [a sting of numbers and letters] Query timeout expired" .
Then you have lost all your work on that open note since 'Last Note Backup' does not really work.
Has anyone experienced this problem ?
After 3 sessions, Angel Support has not been able to fix this issue. One session they blamed it on UPDOX integration, but it did not improve the problem.

A runtime error is rather non-specific. The string of errors would likely be helpful. In fact, if a copy of the error would be helpful. And, if there are "More Details," then copy and paste that into a text file, and upload it here.
It still seems unlikely for all the clients to be defective or have an error. Even though the server doesn't have the problem, it could be part of the problem. You could go to the server's and each client and right click on AC in programs and features and run repair.
Have you uninstalled and installed AC on the server? Have you installed the program on a client to see if it will work there?
But, to start, if you could give us the entire error message.

I have a screen shot but if I posted it, that would be a HIPPO violation

Do you have a fake patient. Or erase names in paint?

It may not be a fix, but we started getting the "Query timeout expired" run-time error after Updox Central got updated on our server a few weeks ago. I ended up increasing the sync time period option in Updox Central. The default was 2 minutes, up it to 15 and it seemed to help.

There are various reasons behind a runtime error. Some of them are as follows: ? Clashes between terminate and stay resident programs (TSR) ? Issues caused by running applications ? Memory issues ? Poor Programming ? Other software problems ? Aging or damaged hardware ? Harmful or malicious applications like computer viruses or adware
Again, runtime errors are rather non-specific errors that are usually associated with error messages. You said in your post that the error message contained a string of numbers and letters. Those can be very helpful plus all other details of the error message. Also, any info in the Event Viewer right after a runtime error can be very helpful.
It is interesting that both tech and mc linked it to Updox.

I also commonly get the runtime error when selecting ICD codes in the Diagnosis window. Every 2-3 days.

Tech support poked and prodded on my server and could not find and answer; Then .... It miraculously disappeared without any 'known' intervention after tech support signed out; It happens that way with patients also ....
