Hi All,
I'm just posting here to say that we have switched to AC Cloud at the end of May and have since had several issues with it.
Several times since we've had it, the program has frozen with no way to re-start it since it is on the server (which ties us to AC support which has not always been as responsive for us), and other issues seem to occur on the server side. One of the main reasons we switched to the cloud is to have ease of access of the data when the doctor is out of the office. Recently, and disappointingly, she was able to log in but was unable to do important tasks such as prescribe medications because of some windows service issue (I told her to write down the error messages she gets next time!).
All in all, though, our general feeling is that we are paying a lot of money for something that does not work all that well.
I'm wondering: Are we alone here or have any other cloud users had problems or issues as well? Anyone else share this sentiment?
Thanks for listening,
Samantha

I've been using AC Cloud for over a year. All in all it's worked out well for me. There have been occasional glitches requiring getting in touch with support; they have been fairly responsive overall. When the internet connection is less than optimal (I have DSL in the office which is acceptable), the connection gets interrupted, but this is relatively rare recently.
When the internet connection is down, of course, there are no patient charts available at all. Our office phones/internet went down for about a week when someone cut a big cable in the basement, and I was only able to connect via cellphone tethering, which kept going down. I ended up cancelling a number of patients, just couldn't deal with it. So a good backup internet option would be a useful thing.
But I am very happy not having to deal with server issues in the office, and I have gotten used to accessing patient charts at home and while on vacation seamlessly. Together with Updox, I can manage things very well while away.
I would not consider going back to an inhouse server system at present. Of course, if the number and frequency of glitches went up, it would be a big issue for me.

I thought with AC Cloud you also had a license for the system on your computers, since the Cloud charge is on top of that. So, if the internet with down, you would have a backup copy of your database on an office computer, which could run things until the internet was restored.

No local backup. But, bring your ipad to work and you can work on your ipad through the microsoft remote desktop app.

We've been using ACinC over a year and love it.
We have a good internet connection via Charter cable with rare downtime. With AC on my own server I was frequently having various technical problems that interrupted patient care--mostly because i'm not much of a techie and never had an IT person at our beck and call. I'm spending much more time seeing patients and less dealing with computer issues. With upgrades I don't have to do anything--AC takes care of it on their end. Gone are the days when I would have to come into the office on the weekend and sweat through an upgrade. For us it's well worth the expense.
