I"m not sure what you mean. We do download labs from Labcorp. And their new website is called Beacon. As far as downloading lab results, there has been no change.

United Heathcare has notified us that they will soon require pre approval for several pricey labs (like vitamin D). The process will be to order lab through the LabCorp Beacon website, I am told, with clinical data submitted for approval before the lab will be drawn. The AC-LabCorp interface won't help, since its not bidirectional. Seems reasonable. After all, UHC had a 2% drop in profits last quarter, (only 1.4 billion dollars). I feel so guilty ordering all those Vitamin D's.

UHCis on a rampage to stop alot of useful screenings. Most of our patients have a vit d dificiency. Vit d dificiency, while it doesn't usually cause any one big problem (except for rickets) it does contribute to alot of other issues including insulin resistance and obesity. Previously, they stopped paying for hepatitis screening unless you had symptoms of hepatitis. Of course, alot of people don't have symptoms.

UHC is on a mission -- we doctors directly account for only 10% of healthcare expenses, but we influence 80% of the spending. We're the wild savages and they're the cavalry. I only hope they meet the same end as Custer.

Based on the way the medical community has united to defend itself, I don't see a medical Little Big Horn in the future. Unfortunately.

There is always a tipping point.
It's a shame the doctors aren't a little more self-assured. That's what makes a CEO. Shameless inflation of self-worth.
But that's why doctors will be like teachers in a few years -- grateful for any job they can get, and quietly resentful of the administrators.

I appreciate all responses.
United Health care BeconLBS with AC required bidirectional as well as collecting data from encounter so we do not have to re-enter, mainly diagnosis ( and documentation) require to get approval for all test routine as well as others.
I hope AC will put in upcoming upgrade.
