We are seeking advice on how to begin the meaningful use process Stage 2. What steps should we take for the PQRS measures? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm also curious on how anyone has set up for 2014 PQRS in AC. 2013 seemed simple, but for some reason 2014 is throwing me for a loop. We are a solo practice and plan on reporting by claims.

I have a related question: you have to do a Security Risk Analysis for MU. Do you know if this is required for the HIPAA Omnibus rule of you are NOT going for MU?

Charlene,
We are just getting started with the process. Due to EHR and other issues we have not even started the initial phase (2013 phase) of PQRS. Could you give me any guidance on how to begin the process? We are an allergy specialty office and have not had any instructions. We are looking to our association for help but have not made any advances.
Thank you,
Scarlett Medical Assistant Office of Indar Jhamb, M.D.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but generally I interpret MU as proving you have adequate functionality of the EMR and have actually been using it, and I interpret PQRS as the quality measures that have to be reported to Medicare via claims, registry or EMR. Both terms are being used here and I'm not sure what is being asked.
Anyway I am finishing up my PQRS measures and am planning on starting adding them to claims soon (I did claims submission last year too). To try to explain the whole thing might get a little lengthy but if anybody has specific questions I'll try to answer them.

Randy,
We have questions about both Meaningful Use and PQRS. We set up Meaningful Use Stage 1 last year. We would like to know how to proceed to Stage 2 and what we must do to qualify. Any advice you could provide would be helpful.
However, our main concern is how to file the PQRS measures. How do we report the PQRS to Medicare? We are an allergy specialty and the codes that we have tried to submit previously have been denied. We are unsure what we should do as far as submitting the codes and getting them approved. What steps do we need to take? If you would prefer to send us an email our email address is drijhamb@gmail.com. Your help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
