Hi all,
Upgrading 6.3.3 to 6.6.5 did not go smoothly (surprise, surprise).
The upgrade procedure on the main computer (SBS 2011 Essetials) seemed to go okay.
When I tried to run the Database Tuner app, it says "Could not connect to your database. Make sure you have run the application first, bla, bla, bla."
When I try to run the Amazing Charts.exe as admin, it says it cannot connect because of firewall issue. I've gone as far as disabling the entire firewall, but it's not helping. Any suggestions on this fine Sunday?
Thanks in advance.

Are you running the database tuner on the main computer?
AC won't be able to connect without updating the database.

Yes, running the tuner from the server gave us the error msg.

The msg also mentioned something about security and "s a" which I assume stands for system admin.

Dear Gianni,
Same problem Friday night.
AC tech solution was to add permissions to *.mdf and *.ldf files, add user everyone with all rights to those files.
Navigate to AC folder through My Computer.
Right-click on the six *.mdf and *.ldf files, one by one:
AmazingCharts.mdf & .ldf meds.mdf & .ldf codes.mdf & .ldf
click on properties for each file
click on security
add user everyone
give user all rights
Cheers,

Well, that seemed to get me past the initial fiasco, but the Database Tuner threw up yet another error message about some kind of error or exception. I bypassed the error, and now it seems to be stuck in the "Backing up, then updating your databases" phase for the past hour.
Our server has plenty of resources, so I'm suspecting that this isn't going to have a happy ending.
Nothing more I love than to wrestle with yet another half-baked update from AC on a Sunday...

So here's what we did to seemingly solve our impasse:
1. I installed the 6.6.5 upgrade on our backup server (WHS 2011). It seemed to go w/o a hitch.
2. I ran the Database Tuner on said machine, which also went smoothly, *although* the upgrade procedure should not require that a browser window pop up to download the .zip file. Many servers are locked down in terms of browser security. Not well thought out - the DB Tuner should have been bundled with the upgrade file.
3. I then made a backup of the data (now in 6.6.5 format).
4. I then restored this backup from/to our Main Server.
I AM NOT suggesting that people do this. I only did this out of desperation as the sun was rising, and our office staff was rolling in.
Obviously, not a pleasant experience. I *shudder* every time AC announces a update...

I just want to add...I did the upgrade from v6.3.3 to v6.6.5 this weekend. Win 7 SP1 is the OS on the server. None of the clients would connect. I would have called support, but it is the weekend. I found Carl's post and that fixed the problem. Manually adding the permissions and adding "everyone" to the share of the 6 files fixed my problem. I also had to add SQL Server 2012 to the inbound firewall rules. Thank you for the posts.
