We noticed a quirk in the comments field on labs. We use a lab interface and when I check results I will write a note in the Comment field for my medical assistant. On one patient this week I wrote:
Labs look good
Schedule MRI and EMG
My medical assistant never saw the instructions regarding the MRI/EMG. I realize that only the first two lines show up when she looks at the comments. The third line is only visible by scrolling down.
Labs look good
>>>not visible: Schedule MRI and EMG (Added by J. Howland, M.D.)
Fortunately we didn't drop the ball on scheduling the MRI/EMG--but could have. The lesson I've learned here is avoid Comments that are more than two lines and my staff will be sure to look for the "(Added by J. Howland, M.D.)" to be sure they've seen the whole comment.
