Here is an interesting table from a blog by Evan Steele. He is the CEO of the EHR system that was just rated #1 by KLAS.

Total $ Value of Participating in the EHR Incentive Program:

*Estimate based on annual Medicare revenue of $300,000. Penalty = 1% in 2015, 2% in 2016

Donna,

Thanks for the article, but I think Evan is missing the boat unless I misinterpreted him. I think the biggest argument not to participate is decreased efficiency in the office as the complexity increases makes that penalty look like chump change.

Actually, he agrees with you, Jim. This article was about why MU is destined to fail. If you read more of his writings, he has developed an EMR (SRS EHR) which he touts as involving the least clicks (are you reading JBS?), most efficient program out there. Their clips on YouTube are pretty interesting. The testimonials from docs say that the software does not slow them down at all. And yet, it is MU 1 and 2 certified. It has piqued my curiosity. Anyone have any knowledge about this product?

Epic was also ranked very high in the big practices!!! I about fell over. AS COMPARED TO WHAT??? If all the people who are now using and highly ranking Epic had had the good fortune to have used AC before, believe me, Epic would be shot out of the water.

We actually received contact from them, and I'll admit I'm curious given their ranking - is there interest in seeing this in San Diego? Folks have asked before about having a cook-off? (not including Martin's creations).

When the most recent KLAS results came out, I saw that SRSsoft was ranked #1 for small practices, and tried to learn more about it. It seems like they came out of no where. It appears that many of their users are ortho practices. Perhaps they started there and expanded. I had seen Steele's article recently but did not connect the two... there is something to learn from this. (And something for AC to learn, too).

It looks like I made a smart business decision to do Stage 1, Year 1, and then drop out. Not only is it not worth my time, but your risk of an audit goes up substantially. When I heard they had hired special third party hatchet men to try and get some of their money back based on fraud audits, I jumped ship. Thanks for the meaningful!! Article

I successfully completed stage 1, year 2 in January. Today I received a check for $11,760 ($12,000- 2% sequester). Amazing Charts made it easy. It took minimal effort on my part. It is DEFINITELY worth the effort. For those of you hesitating, I would suggest you just look at the meaningful use wizard to see what you need to do and just do it.

I was audited for stage 1, year 2 and successfully passed the audit.
Amazing charts is amazing and I am still on version 6.2.2 which is certified for Stage 1.
They wanted to make sure that I used a certified version. AC sent me a letter and I forwarded it to them and they
were satisfied. Got a letter from them that I passed the audit have met the requirements for stage 2 of year 1.
Hope this helps

I did the first year incentive and then after a lot of soul searching, said the hell with it. MU basicaly lays out the electronic blueprint for the government to gain greater control over our patients, their personal information and our overall practice of medicine. Their sights are set on single payer, tightly monitored socialized medicine. In some respects, single payer would be great, because it would eliminate the nightmare of dealing with multiple insurance companies and all of the issues with getting paid. But single payer would greatly regulate our fees - the lawyers would decide that it is good enough for us to each make 100k a year while they continue to pad their wallets with frivolous malpractice settlements. Then we can sit back and wait for all of these patients to come in with every little ache and pain, because it is all basically free! God help us all.
