our practice has a large number of patients that we no longer follow - for example hospital consult 10 years ago. Our database goes back to 1999. Therefore the denominator for Menu 4:patient reminders includes thousands of patients that we have not seen for several years and are essentially inactive.
Is there a work around to reduce the denominator to active patients that we have treated in that past 2 years without having to manually deactivate thousands of charts?
Thank you

When you run the Meaningful Use report, you designate a date range.

exactly, set the date range for 1/1/13 to 12/31/13. That is the reporting period and thus it wouldn't be appropriate to attest to patient encounters from 2012 or later.

If it is your first year of attestation, you only need a three month period.
