OK, tech wizards, I need a fix.
I recently converted to Win 7. Initially, for open programs in the taskbar, if I moused over the icon, I would see tiny images of the open pages. Today, it has decided to show me just text titles. I am not aware of changing any settings, and I can't find a setting in the taskbar properties to change it back.
Where is the setting, how do I return to images?

Try restarting the computer. It cures many "goofy" ills.

carlfogel,
Thanks for the link, it eventually helped me find the answer.
An installed program had disabled Win7 aero. Some investigation revealed that a "mirror driver" was interfering, and it was LogMeIn that was the culprit. I uninstalled LogMeIn then deleted the mirror driver that it had installed for the display adapter, and aero is back, with the page previews.
I know that there are many who use LogMeIn, anyone else seen this?

I have not. It will transiently disable aero when engaged, but it usually returns to normal (aero) when you are not being remoted into.

Thanks for that link too.
I now know why this problem appeared this week. I used LogMeIn to this machine when I was away last week. Usually, I log into another machine at the office.
Your link led me to a possible work around. I will try reinstalling LogMeIn and changing settings to see if I can use it without disabling aero.

LMI disables aero to improve speed. Transparency effects like aero take longer to load. Are you using LogMeIn in the office or outside the office? I would suggest using Remote Desktop instead, especially if you are using LMI in the office.

Thank you, Sandeep. I am using it outside the office, only occasionally to log in to this machine. It's fine if it disables aero for the log in session. The problem was that it disabled aero completely, so I had to uninstall LogMeIn and the driver to fix it for using the machine directly. I'll take a look at Remote Desktop.

It does happen on occasion. You can usually restore it by right clicking on your desktop and going to Personalize and choosing the default Windows 7 Theme to restore Aero effects. Reinstalling LMI is usually not necessary.

I had tried that as well as the wizard to fix the aero effects, none of those worked. The only fix was to uninstall LMI and its driver.

Usually you can fix it by uninstalling the Mirror Driver from the Device Manager.
Start>Run>"devmgmt.msc">Display Devices>Right Click LogMeIn Mirror Driver>Uninstall
