I remember someone posting on how to get PDF's to open within AC and not in Adobe. I can't seem to find that post on the user board.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

I do as well. I actually think it was I but maybe not. First, it has to be done in II on the server (I think). Then you have to play around with right clicking. I don't think it is right click on the pdf. That is for opening in its own application. I tried using open with in default, but there aren't that many defaults. I don't see how you can open in ac by default. But, I do it all the time. Try putting the cursor in the window at the right and play around -- right click, etc. Try to find open with.

Marty,
Maybe I am confused here but I don't think you can do that. AC needs to use some program to open a pdf; it cannot do it on its own. Are you talking about opening the pdf within the pane in II vs. outside of it?

If a computer has Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat then it is necessary to choose between the two programs for the default program to open a pdf file. Adobe Acrobat will open the AC pdf file in a separate window which is annoying. In Windows XP right-click on a pdf file that is not in AC and select Open With. Choose Adobe Reader and look for the button for the computer to always use this program to open the pdf file. In Windows 7 right-click on a pdf file and select properties. Look for Type of File and Opens With and you will see a button for Change. You can select Adobe Reader.

This should be interesting. Always is. You can definitely have it open in the pane to the right. Did it last night. With Adobe Acrobat. Both options.

Jon,

I am talking about opening a PDF within the pane on II in imported items. AC used to open the PDF's within AC and from there I could write my comments etc.

They installed full Adobe Acrobat on my PC and now instead of opening the PDF within AC it now opens as a separate window outside of AC and I don't like it.

I know you can set the default application outside of AC with the "always open with" box but can't seem to figure out how to open the PDF in imported items in AC.

Guardian Angel Support is not available at the moment. I'll post the solution if they give me one.

It can be changed. I changed it three times yesterday.

Jon,

Yes! That's what I was looking for. I was able on my personal computer to delete Adobe Reader and that seemed to fix it. But the other PC's only had Adobe Reader and not the full version of Adobe.

For those PC's, I did fix it using this method: by opening IE, going to tools, then "Manage Add On's" then "currently loaded add-ons" from there I had to enable one of the selections under Adobe and that fixed it.
