Yes, that's right, Sandeep. I am currently using the traditional service-based AC, but am considering switching to the Cloud version. With that in mind, is it feasible to use a wireless laptop to reduce the number of licenses needed? I seem to recall reading somewhere that wireless connections are not recommended.....is that primarily for security reasons? Dale Gray

Dale, Don't do it because it is slooooooow. Check out lower rates at the competition with Indy who is well established on this board at http://www.bestforyourpractice.com/AC in the Cloud connection rates seem very high. Imagine if AC has a PM and everyone in the office and the exam rooms are all connected. It would be cheaper to go eCW in the cloud I think. Maybe we could all go back to transcriptionists, save money, and have notes we actually want to read.

Actually it doesn't really matter. The reality is that while Wireless is slower than Wired, it's still alot faster than most peoples' internet connections.
Let's Do A Comparison:
ISP Speeds (Download/Upload): Standard DSL = 3 Mbit/512 Kbit Cable = 10 Mbit/1 Mbit T1 = 1.5 Mbit / 1.5 Mbit
Wireless (LAN) Speeds: Wireless G (old): 54 Mbit Wireless N: 150 Mbit+ Wireless AC: 500 Mbit
So you can see the old Wireless G is still 5 times faster than your average Cable connection. Most people have Wireless N nowadays (G is almost gone). With cloud, your experience depends more on your Internet connection than your local network.
May I ask why you are switching?

Let's say your practice is populated by people who thought UpDox was too difficult to learn. Would you still reccommend the AC Cloud to them? Also, James I just read your list you linked to. Would you be my IT sensei? I would like to learn at your feet.

Someone from AC will have to weigh in to speak to their limitations, but we always install Updox Central in our Managed Environment unless the client declines Updox.
It sometimes requires a small amount of tinkering with configuration values to optimize the install, but most moves from local AC to managed AC that include Updox happen over night and are transparent to the practice.

No. I tried Dragon a couple of years ago and found I could type faster with fewer errors even for non-medical text. No doubt the software has improved.

I just connected to hosted AC today. Finding that it takes 49 seconds to print (from clicking print until printer starts). Most of the time the screen is open until the print job has been sent- so the entire 49 seconds. Anyone else have this issue or have a suggestion?

I've been on AC cloud for a couple of months. When I installed a new printer (HP Laser P2035), all of a sudden I was no longer able to print from AC cloud to it at all. Contacted tech support at AC and they installed a utility, TSPrint I think, on the server and a client on the desktop. With that, you can select which client printer it prints to, and it's acceptably fast, maybe 5-10 seconds to get it going. I would contact them about this.

Thank you. Support is first adding more RAM. The person I spoke with thought the TSPrint might be an additional cost but is checking.
Seems like it should not be an add on cost- the TSPrint website offers an unlimited license to servers for $299:
From their site: Unlimited license
The unlimited license has no restrictions. You can use TSPrint on your terminal server no matter how many users are connected or how many printers each of them have.

I didn't have to pay extra for the TSPrint option, but I have the feeling that AC will only go that route if they can't get your printer to work without TSPrint. They tried to get mine working and said if they couldn't, they would do TSPrint, which is what they ended up doing.

There is a trick to certain printers in a remote environment, but apparently not everyone knows those tricks. Sounds like they came up with a work-around, so that is good.

That makes a lot of sense. Since my old printer was an HP LaserJet, a few years old, and the new one is a newer model HP (not exactly an obscure printer), I was surprised that it didn't work right off the bat. But the work-around worked.

I started AC in the cloud about a week ago. They installed TSPrint on all my computers as part of the installation. It was routine and they did not even try it without. It works fine. It takes no longer to print than it did from my server. It appears, however, that it only prints to the default printer so if you want to print to a different printer you need to change the default. I just accept that as a limitation.

Interesting. With my setup, I have the choice of three TSPrint priters when I print from AC in the cloud: TSPrint default, TSPrint PDF and TSPrint printer. When I choose default, it does print to the (local) default printer; when I choose TSPrint printer, after a few seconds a window pops up showing all the local printers and I can choose which one to print to.

Interesting. I started with AC Cloud due to logistics. At each location I am on the Wifi network and can find and print off any printer on the network without any difficulty. I also have a cheap Brother 2770DW laser printer (~$75/-) which has been able to print duplex and is wireless capable without any difficulty, although there is a lag of 40-50 seconds. I do not use the TSPrint and have had no difficulty

I continue to have printing difficulties. Support varies as to who you talk to- one person basically refused to load TSPrint- told me my print times could not be improved. Next guy complied nicely when I asked and loaded TSPrint. Worked fast and flawlessly for about 2 days. They did not install the license key and eventually lost all functionality. Another call and they installed the key and then I had to reload the client TSPrint on my machines. Today.... printing varies. I'm losing letters and crashing the hosted AC.
FWIW, I am totally unable to print from my Mac despite having TSPrint installed. Was told I would have to use CoRd if I want to print from Mac instead of Microsoft RDP (despite the fact that support installed the MS RDP on the Mac in the first place). Yet, CoRd forums are full of spam and the 3 real posts are all about print functionality not working.
I have never been so frustrated with AC. From my experience, I don't think their hosted solution is ready for prime time.
For others considering it- also remember that emailing out of AC is not fluid- support had to install Thunderbird on the server. I also have a running Word Document in my imported items folder for updates and documentation of phone calls and emails (rather than having to open a thousand separate addenda).. support had to load Open Office so I could open the document. Opening it is slow. Everything is slower...
Manish- a lag of 40-50 seconds to print? Is the document frozen on your screen in the meantime? That is how mine was and I could not tolerate that delay multiple times each day.
There is also a difference when printing Crystal reports vs letters, vs pdfs... each seems to have its own little glitch.
