was it perfect? no.
but for what it was, namely simple and instant access to all the progress notes from the office, it was really invaluable when on call, weekend hospital rounding, etc.
i'm still mourning the fact that after we upgraded to the new version of AC yesterday, the iphone app will no longer sync.
when i asked technical support about it, they mentioned the app had been phased out at the beginning of the year. they claimed it was because they couldn't get anyone to update it to iOS 6.
ironically, I've procrastinated upgrading to iOS 6 on my iphone 4s because of the whole maps fiasco. did it stop working for everyone else a while ago?
after scouring these boards, i couldn't really find much comment on it, except 1 post alluding to maybe this was a way of pushing people toward AC on the cloud.
THIS IS MY FIRST MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT WITH AMAZING CHARTS.
I've been happy to brag about AC to anyone who'd listen about the cost and basic functionality. but, i kid you not, as a consultant, I've had a lot other ehr users admiring just how quickly i could just bring up the last progress note, especially during some impromptu run in with a referring doctor, or getting information about a particularly complicated patient during a weekend consult.
it's mostly disappointing because it must really be an easy upgrade to make. from what i can tell, i think it's just because of the SQL server update and database restructuring needed by the new AC version that the iphone app can no longer talk to it. (ironically, the "iphone interface" is still active. when you click on the "repair" button, you get a lengthy error message alluding to incompatibility with the database).
the UNNERVING thing, though, is the implication by some that this was by design to push users into moving to the cloud-based server. by phasing out the app, it feels like blackmail... and the first time i feel less a part of a grass-roots community and alternative to the big-name ehr providers, and more like a chump.
we are very happy with our current server-based system, and have no intention of moving to a cloud based system (especially given complaints that in addition to the added fee for the cloud, there is a substantial monthly cost in upgrading to a very high speed data line for internet).
i also understand that LogMeIn could get me what i need as well, but when i'm trying to get through busy rounds or on the phone with the ED, i don't need access to a virtual desktop... i just want the note.
PLEASE BRING THE APP BACK. PLEASE. DON'T ABUSE THE TRUST OF YOUR LOYAL USERS.
(say it ain't so, jonathan....)

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them

Mine is working fine. So I need to NOT upgrade to iOS 6 and NOT upgrade to 6.5.x? I have really been enjoying this app, and I'm kind of shocked they would let it go by the wayside. Apps like this are the future. I was just bragging AC this weekend about how I could pull up the last PN on call. I had a patient call wanting a refill, and I could quickly tell while riding down the freeway she was not our patient.

Vote for bringing back the app...
As long as you don't update, you are able to access what you currently have.
It is very helpful to have, there is much room for improvement, but it is helpful, and it WAS expensive for an app.

That's lame that they are not supporting. I talked to GA today and told them to pass up the chain our thoughts on this.

If your app is working, definitely do NOT upgrade to version 6.5.6.
My partner said her app was working after updating to iOS6 on her iPhone, but I can't independently verify this. I'd be curious to here if iOS6 was compatible from others, but I would have expected an outcry earlier. I don't think the IT guy really knew when he told me the iOS6 excuse (which didn't really make sense anyway.)

Yes, please bring back the app! I use AC in the Cloud which I like a lot, but I still would really appreciated being able to look up info when I'm out and about without my laptop. Even if I could just look up information--that would be great.

For a while iPhone app, AC Oncall was not working with 6.5.5. But since I upgraded to 6.5.6 the app is working again.

todd... I really don't know how you can get it now. they apparently removed it from the app store earlier this year.
sanjeev... i'm amazed yours is working with 6.5.6, because that's just when mine stopped syncing. did you have to tinker at all? as far as I known there were no upgrades to the app (mine is still 1.0.1). when I tried to troubleshoot through the amazing charts, the sense I got was it not compatible with the Microsoft SQL 2012 upgrade needed for the 6.5.6. if you know a trick, please share!
to be clear, the app still WORKS, but no longer SYNCS. so I still have everything on the phone from about a week and a half ago. I just can't get any new notes to download to my phone (or get 1 last on call message off my phone).

I have the latest iOS and AC 6.3.3. The app is working fine. I believe the problems is with AC upgrade, not iOS. I would upgrade iOS regardless of what AC does (there's more to life than AC). However, I see no reason to upgrade AC to 6.5. The GA tech told me that indeed, they are NO LONGER supporting the AP. I think I paid $25 bucks for it too! Anyone who is having a problem should submit a GA ticket so they get the message

Everyone click on Help menu in AC, then Report a Bug: ask them to fix the app!

S**T! I wish I had seen this thread before I upgraded our systems to 6.5.6 over the weekend. I never would have done it if I had known it would break the app. We use the app regularly on call and in clinic.
