My network is peer to peer. Using AC 6.3.3. At present, the main computer is XP. I have 2 laptops, one is Windows 7, and the other is XP. They are both wireless, and take 4 seconds to connect to the AC database. The W7 machine is newer with better, faster hardware. But, when I try to open imported items in a chart (especially if there are a lot), the W7 machine takes much longer, probably twice as long, to open them.

Tech guys, what's the explanation for this?
And, is there a way to improve the speed on the W7 machine?

Donna,

I have had this problem for quite some time. Even talked about it with Jon in Tahoe but no solution given. For some reason, my AC simply does not like W7.

Thank you, Leslie.

I love XP and will be sorry to see it go next year. I have started my plans for upgrade, thus the W7 laptop, but think that I will wait until the last possible moment to upgrade the other machines.

Donna,

I am anything but a tech guy, but a while back Sandeep posted a video showing the difference of speed between hardwired and wireless set ups. After watching that video I hardwired my nurses laptop, and since then the delay in Imported Items vanished. My nurse was having up to 30 second delay of imported items till then. It is her workstation with her laptop that is used for the scansnap scanner. We use all windows 7 64 bit on all our computers. My main computer "server" and my nurses' hardwired and then I just use a laptop wireless with a gigabyte switch. So only have 3 machines in my setup.

Jimmie,

I know that wiring would speed up the process.

But, what I am curious about is why, when both XP and W7 take 4 seconds wirelessly to connect to the AC database, why does W7 take significantly longer to open the II?

Buy a copy of XP and "downgrade" your W7 machine.

Sorry, just jealous about that swimming thing.

Jon, I can just use the old XP laptop for now.

It is hard to believe that none of our brilliant tech gurus have an explanation for this.

But, it will be a moot point in less than a year.

Damn. If James has cracked this one, I will be very impressed. Donna, care to change your registry and report back to us?

Whoa, thanks for the reference James.

There is the explanation, but changing the registry is just a bit above my comfort and skill level.

Perhaps our fearless leader JBS could try it out, he is always ahead of the curve!
