Having trouble updating the medication list if I open up an unsigned chart to use as a template for the current visit.

Often, i'm not done with the previous visit's note before their current visit. So my staff enters all the new information in a new note. I cut the information I want, including vitals. Then I open up the unsigned chart, but do not erase it. I simply update the note and change the date to reflect current date and time. When I go to update the medication list, it's fine on the separate medication window, but it does not update the actual window or note on the main AC window.

Any thoughts or fix?

Easy answer is to finish your charts on the day they are seen :^)

Or at least finish a previous visit before starting a new visit.

What info are you waiting for before signing?

I type on ipad into the HPI box what patients are telling me so its not spelled correctly most of the time. I need to go back and change the shorthand note to appropriate sentences. Also my exam is short hand and need to update if new findings.

I also document new test results which takes time.

Update new events such as hospitalizations.
Come up with the problem lost which can be pretty long for some patients.

Thank goodness my plan is done since I give them letter with instructions and orders.

Anyways. My work around is to copy and past last note to new one rather than my old way. Works fine.
