I think I know the answer to this in advance, but thought I would ask.

I have two needs:

1-I have duplicate entries (staff repeatedly would make a new entry before checking if the contact already exists) in both AC Rolodex and Updox address book. I need to remove duplicates, leave one entry per contact, and edit that entry to include the most up-to-date phone number. I would like to do that in a spreadsheet for speed. Instead of one-by-one.
2- In the Updox address book, I need to be able to export my contacts to a spreadsheet so I can do, for example, a fax broadcast to my referring PCPs.

In the Rolodex: you can only edit or delete an entry on a one-by-one basis. No way to do it in batch. You can export the Rolodex to a csv file (which I do not need), but you cannot import.

In Updox address book: It's worse. You cannot delete any entries, you can only edit individual entries. You can import contacts from a csv but you cannot export your address book.

So you can see they both have partial functionalities. I would think an ideal address book would let you freely export and import in batch. So you can, for example, look at your address book in Excel, change and delete what you want, and then import it again into the address book, deleting the old values.

I hope I was clear. Let me know if you found ways to do what I described more easily.

One of the things that you can do is contact Updox and ask them to clear your contacts, then you can do a fresh sync.

Your plan is solid, getting a merged database in one place. Once yo uahve what you want in AC , you can sync that into Updox easily.

I am not sure that AC support will wipe/load your contacts for you - if not, we can get you some independent assistance.
