It would be helpful if the progress note said "electronically signed by" and our name.
On more than one occasion I have been asked to manually sign notes because there were not those "three little words" electronically signed by in front of our name.

Three little words OR one little word: digitally.

Our lab doesn't need it.

Radiology has to have "digitally signed by." They won't take electronically signed. Another example of medical stupidity. Why can't they step back and realize it makes it no more authentic.

I just changed my name to First name: Digitally signed by Last Name Bert Adams. Now everything comes out Digitally signed by Bert Adams. We have done that for everyone in the past.

Wow. It never stops changing here. Does it need a signature at all. Will someone not take a stamp, it must be "electronically signed," Sorry, it can't say "electronically signed," it has to say digitally signed. All the way up to it must have a "wet" signature. That one drives me nuts. Just ask for a real signature. I am so passive-aggressive, when they ask for a "wet" signature, I actually sign it, then pour a little water over it. Can't help it. I am just passive-aggressive.

I mean if having someone call in Vicodin is more secure than ePrescribing it, then none of this makes sense.

Bert,
That is a BRILLIANT work around!
Now if we could just get the O2 companies to realize that a password protected electronically generated signature is NOT a stamp.
