Hi,

I just purchased a Mainpine IQ Express fax board on a server 2008 software, windows fax and scan will not pick it up. What am I doing wrong? Drivers are installed and I see the fax board listed under Modems and phones in Devices. I need help

OK, could be a number of things. Windows can throw one glitch in there at the end. Here are a few things I would look at. Sandeep can definitely help. We both use Mainpines, but he's the expert. Also, guaranteed that Mainpine support will get you up and running in under 30 minutes.

First, when you click on New Fax and you don't have a user account from the PC you are logged in to, you should get the following:

I am not sure exactly where your issue is, but this is generally the problem 90% of the time. When you go to click connect, it wants a path. It gives as an example:

\mycompanyfax The only way that will work is if your server name is mycompayfax.

What you want to put there is the name of the server or computer that the fax driver is located. So, if it is on your Windows 2008 server, and the name of the server is Bert (which most peoples are) then you want to put \\Bert It will find the fax driver.

Next check to see if your accounts are set up. I think these are auto-populated but can't hurt to set them up. Go to server | Administrative Tools | Accounts. Add your account there from Active Directory.

Next make sure you have your fax modems set up correctly. I have two lines so it looks different. Its been a while, so I can't remember how important this is, but at least label them. The reason it is so stupid is that the "modems" are the ones that say IQFSP and not the ones that say "modem." Go figure. Notice I labeled mine.

Make sure your fax roles are set up. Server Manager | Roles. They aren't set up by default. They should be set up and working properly.

Finally, make sure you have a fax driver in your Printers which is shared. Remember back where the path was \\server, you don't put \\server\fax driver or \\serverfaxdriver. If your client is directed to the server, it will automatically find the print driver.

I apologize that some of this escapes me. You will get set up by tomorrow either by Sandeep's editing of this or using support. I called them once because they didn't get back to me, and the next time I called they put me through to the president. He was awesome. He told me to call him any time for support. They will remote in and set you up asap. Good luck.

Yes, I get that screen, and every time I try to access the server it says already in use.

When you try to access the server and get that message, if you double click the print driver on the server which then opens fax and scan OR just open fax and scan, is it trying to send a fax unsuccessfully?

You have to have a print driver to send the fax. It should be located under Printers where all of your other print drivers are.

If you do have issues after installing the print driver, consider if you have a credit card machine on it. It's fine, but sometimes it can give you the "already in use" message.

apparently for the board to work with Windows Fax and Scan, Mainpine IQFSP Software has to be installed so Windows fax and scan can see it.

Meanwhile, you can be making Contacts or importing from Excel or .csv. Export from other fax machines, etc.

Tools | Contacts | Click on tab at top for new contact.

Fax and scan will keep pulling from that list on your server or main computer so staff can add as needed.
