We follow our state medical board guidelines for charging patients for copies of their medical records-- $5 retrieval fee, $1/page for pages 1-10, 50 cents/page thereafter, etc.

However, we have noticed many offices are now copying medical records to discs. Do any of you provide copies of med records to disc for your patients? If so do you still charge "per page" or do you just have a set fee for the disc?

Thanks for your input!

I will give pretty much unlimited copies to patients. I charge the same amount when it is a transfer whether it is faxed, printed or put on a disc.

Unfortunately, you can't charge Medicaid. Unbelievable.
