Verizon went down along with my DSL.... (they came over the weekend, fixed it outside, never came in, and all is good)

Strangely, my AC, along with my PM software (perfect care if anyone cares) slowed down as well.

On another note, maybe connected, my wireless network didn't work in my office either.

Thank g-d for AC and not purchasing a web product (practice fusion!) No erx, but would have been 2 days of hell...

This is because AC makes several calls over the Internet, and the application continues to expend time and effort waiting for responses.

I wonder what would happen if you redirected those dns entries to 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file when the internet is down. Might lead to a speed boost since it would stop trying to access those.

There is a post a few months back where someone ran down all of the DNS calls that AC makes, and built them into one hosts file. You could swap out a null hosts file on the local DNS server, or in a peer network swap it on each machine if you can't modify DNS on your edge device.

That would be me (I think). The DNS entries in the hosts file is in this thread.

The 2nd post from Crait@AC describes requirements for Newcropx for e-prescribing. The 3rd post from the end, and the last post has the DNS entries in the hosts file that allows AC to work for us. I found it interesting that a connection to www.google.com is required at some point during program initialization... not sure if necessary in normal AC program operation.
