It is version 7.5. Due for release in June. They do not specify what year, however. Seems they're having some issues with delivery of the holographic projector.

LOL! After I posted, I saw that it was a dramatization! So Indy, you'll help us with Holo-Deck adoption, right?

Please keep in mind that to upgrade to a full Holo-Deck will require a Linux host, but not to worry, they can go years between re-boots. [with Love to James]

Did you notice the doctor never actually touched the patient? That's because she was a projection as well. That's part of MU step 4--we get replaced by the EMR.

So that was really going to be a truly "digital" exam.

I don't think so, every time I start watching that, I expect to hear HAL's voice "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't let you do that" Creeps me out. Oh, and retained video of a visit stored somewhere. We can trust the government with all that data, right?

It was all very exciting and advanced. I just was waiting for the part where the guy said "Well, ever since my kid died I just can't seem to focus on my BP", and the machine responds in an ever so compassionate fashion. But then, it's hard to bill a 99214 for that.

I, for one, welcome our new digital doctors. No lunch breaks. No vacations. No liability. More money for me at payroll! Dr. Davis reminded me of the Star Trek voyager doctor (he is a hologram). It's kinda weird how they gave her a hologram daughter.

But then, it's hard to bill a 99214 for that. But wait, if she billed 99214 on this visit the system would notify the Medicare Police since no exam was done. Instant fraud catcher While you might be able to claim time (since this was an excerpt) the system would have to have reimbursement incentives completely differently. Then the insurance companies would try to find a new loophole to avoid payment

The patient's expectation is that you have all the answers, sometimes they just don't like the answer you have for them

That's just a whole lot of fluff, including the model playing to be a doctor. What did the EMR add over a paper chart here? Why is she wearing that lab coat, considering she won't even touch the patient?!

Job security! We will do the physical exam and provide the bedside manners the patient expects for their $150 visit.
Note to self: Practice crying with patients while you touch them.

Hmmmm....wonder what the HIPAA fine will be for the patient overhearing Iris' recitation of Mr. Lee's health history while Dr. Davis was standing in the hall...and when she did voice dictation of her final notes to Iris as she walked to the next room....
