I have a pediatric practice. Whenever I see a child for physical, I have more than 4 diagnosis pointer codes because of the vaccines administration. Everything is documented, and now I am all set to sign off the note. Here is what I am facing while signing off. Ex: 1)99391 V20.2 2)90700 V06.1 3)90... V.... 4)90... V.... 5)90... V.... 6)90... V....
I am able to select Vcodes from the drop down for the corresponding CPT code upto line 4, because the drop down shows only 4 diagnosis pointer codes. When I go to the 5th line and onwards, the nightmare starts.. For the 5th CPT, from the drop down I have to select other and then enter the V code again, then it does not accept it for the first time. Somehow after several attempts it accepts. This is happening every time when I have physical encounter with more than 4 Vcodes. A lot of valuable time is wasted.
Has anybody faced this issue? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Try using a practice management program, not the AC supplied billing function ....

Thank you, NY2GA. Surprisingly after a pause of 2-3 minutes (quite considerable time if you are busy and in a hurry), it accepted the Vcodes pointers. We are using Office ally for electronic claims submission. AC creates text file compatible with Office Ally, very easy process. We are thinking of EZClaim to avoid this persistent pointer problem.
I was wondering if anyone came across this situation.

EzClaim is not perfect. We have problems with 'units' not being transferred, like 90460, 4 units gets exported from AC and imported into Ezclaim as 1 unit. No fix by either company. And ezclaim really has limited reports output. I'm looking at other solutions. I don't think AC is going to follow through with a truly integrated PM module.

I'm just looking at AC so far but have reviewed a few billing companies and clearinghouses...have been happy with what I've seen and read about TotalMD billing program and Gateway clearinghouse. Seem very user friendly. Lots of options to add more if you want more and excellent looking reports. Anyone out there using them?

Sachin, Can you use V20.2 for all of the vaccines and admin codes? We used to also use the different V codes for vaccines, but I after some testing, I realized all private insurance plans (and all the medicaid plans in TX) accept V20.2. It makes your life a lot easier!

Our clearing house is RealMed. We were on Gateway for a few weeks but I left it because I could not contact their customer service at all - the phone line was always busy. I feel TotalMD is not that user friendly but now I'm used it to so it's working out ok. One thing that's good about TotalMD is the support team really tries to help you (though they don't always succeed..)

Tx for that...I kinda wish there was more regulation with the EMR/clearinghouse world so the docs wouldn't have to travel this path on our own.

Which one do you use and how the process flow from the provider seeing the patient to the visit being made into a claim? Is it tedious for you? Is it accurate for the biller with the interface to AC?
