Alright, I'm starting to do PCMH through NCQA. Anyone else out there working on this with AC?

I'm also starting to do Patient Centered MEdical Home Certification (PCMH) - I think this will be a standard requirement in a few years. Anyone else on AC tried for it?

It's all we hear about from the insurance companies, medicare and other feds looking improve "quality" not sure it's useful clinically, but it's coming anyway.

It will only be a requirement if all the physicians drink the Kool-Aid. From what I've read, both this and the ACO shift the risk from the insurance company to the doctor. They don't pay you enough as it is, now they want to to take on risk, which normally is illegal for you to do. For instance, if you had tried to offer a "membership plan" you'd have to be very careful because risk is a province of insurance and you would be charged with providing insurance without a license.

I think that it would be great if anyone could give guidance on PCMH as it relates to AC.

We are well on our way to PCMH but we didn't actually use AC for it. A IPA that we are a part of, helped with a lot of the steps- like printing and handing out the PCMH handouts. We then created a billing code in our PM system (EThomas) for ea family who received the handout. That allows us to run a report of who got it.
I guess you could create a diagnosis code in AC that would allow you to do the same. We are now waiting to be designated PCMH.
