Hi... this is an easy question, I think. Can someone tell me where the labs (electronically transmitted into AC) are stored and backed up. Are they in the main AC data base, imported items, or images. Thanks.

Hi Les,
From what I can see, it looks like the labs are stored in the database, but a BACKUP directory is created in the Quest folder for the HL7 files after the files are imported.

Thanks, Dean. I wanted to know, since I understand that eventually the Imported Items gets very big, and daily backup will slow to a crawl. I'm not sure about Images. Some here have posted that Imported Items and Images should be backed up, but not frequently. I was concerned about the labs being backed up along with the charts which I assume are in the main AC database.

This presents a bit of a new wrinkle (and piece of the patchwork) in the back-up scheme for AC.
We back-up our imported items daily, and include the _Data001 file. We have a LabCorp interface and now it looks like we should add the separate LabCorp back-up file as well.

JBS.. I guess this is what I'm confused about. If the labs are in the main AC database and that is backed up daily, why should you worry too much about the LabCorp (or QUEST) backup folder. After all, there's only one main AC database with the entire chart, no "backup folder" unless a backup is done.
