So I got the reminder, thanks to AC ("I hope you bought something..."). Any recommendations? I'm tired of getting the usual flowers or chocolates. Any creative advice for something to bring home tonight?

Out of ideas in the Northeast.

Tablet computer, Kindle or iPad worked for me

Not always sure what to do.
I know what NOT to do.
don't believe her for a second when she says "You don't have to do anything for me for valentine's day> whistle

Good advice, especially Roger's! Thanks to you all.
Of all things, we wound up going to the Verizon store for Valentine's Day. It wasn't my idea of a romantic evening--but my wife wanted to go and get a new cell phone. We also went to dinner next door (that was my idea). I got her a little card which she liked.

The moral of the story for me is: listen to your spouse if you want her/him to be happy.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Believe me, I am not compensated by Brighton for anything I post. Much the opposite.

I have done the Verizon store smartphone "surprise" for my wife's birthday. Didn't turn out as well as yours, John. The guy lost her contacts transferring to the new phone (since I surprised her, she hadn't backed up for a while). Not my best birthday idea. My new rule is: buy something she can return.

After 15 years of marriage you would think I would know better, but I have a different moral than John Howland's.

Listen to Roger and not your spouse.

I think the Brighton post may be just the ticket for a makeup gift.

Hate to come in late, but I have one question. Do I need a wife or gf to be in this thread?

But, none for the mules, Leslie?
They must feel left out!

This is a rather sexist thread, anyway.
No discussion of what to get husbands or boyfriends!

Late to the party because I was on the road last week, but I stopped by a CrackerBarrel (they are sparse out West) and picked up a couple of things on the way back to the airport.

It has been a long tradition of unpacking the suitcase after a road-trip to find surprises.

That's how it got started. I guess the dog treats post by Leslie means the gifting has opened up somewhat.

Donna,

The donkeys got an extra peppermint! I have some chewing tobacco left over from my husband I plan on giving them on his birthday.
