hello, I am backing up AC to a network drive . When I use the " backup now" button it seems to work fine, but when I set AC to do an automated backup to it it fails and says " part of the path not found". I have tried re browsing to the path on advanced settings, set the logon account as advised but none of this works. Is this a glitch with AC or windows xp ? does any body with more advanced computer skills have any suggestions ? any help would be much appreciated thanks

I had this same problem with our backup folder. I messed around with the settings until it worked.
In Advanced Settings, "location 1:" we have the path to the network folder where we save the backups. In the Automated Backup box, click on Change Logon. In that box, select the radio button for User Account. Then we put the Windows user login name in the User Account box and put the name of the computer where the backups are saved in the domain field. We don't put in anything for the Password box since the AC server computer has the same login name as the backup computer.
The computer we use for backup has Win 7 OS and the destination path of the backups have permissions set to allow that user name full access.

thanks Serene, I tried that already. I have setup the destination computer with the same user name and pw as the server and all permissions are set for full control , but when I put in the domain name of the destination computer, I get a error message that it is not recognized . However, for a manual backup I have no such problem and the path seems fine , so I am wondering why it can do it one way and not the other bala

I had the same problem in the past. The solution for me is near the bottom of the first page in the following link... http://amazingcharts.com/ub/ubbthreads.php/topics/49156/1Turns out that setting up the advanced settings in Amazing Backup required that it be run with Administrator privileges. Also, some good info in the above link. Hope this helps....

I thought you had AC installed on Windows 7... but it appears you have AC installed on Windows XP ?
In any case, in Windows 7, you right-click on the Amazing Backup program, and select "Run as Administrator".
In Windows XP, I think when Windows starts, you log on with your Administrator account... then run Amazing Backup.
In our case, AC was installed on Windows 7, so I thought this was a AC / Windows 7 quirk... I'm not so sure if AC is installed on Windows XP.
