Help,
I never used to get a security warning when logging into AC user board--now I get a pop up box from "Rapport" that says that my user name and passwords can be read since I am "not using a secure connection". Is this a. true, b. a scam, c. do I have virus/worm etc that microsoft essentials has not recognized ? Any one else have this problem. I will log out and try to get a screen shot to post in a few minutes.
Thanks
Dr. Dinosaur

OK,
The message comes from an installed security program needed to login to one of my other important websites. However, with that being said, is their message right: that when logging in to AC User Board someone else could read my user name and password ?

I am confused. You ask is their message right, but you say the message is coming from an entirely different website.
To my knowledge, no one can get your username and password.

Actually the security program is correct. The AC board login is via simple http and can be "sniffed" over the network (aka man in the middle attacks). I have done it. Using an SSL certificate is a good way to protect yourself from those kinds of attacks. I'm sure everyone on the board would appreciate it.

The security program is correct, but no one can reasonably get your username and password unless using, as you say, sniffers, etc. I doubt one is.

Bert's right. Just be careful logging into the board at starbucks or on an unfamiliar network.

No, most boards do not use SSL.

Thanks for the information. I am always careful about public wireless access (rarely use them). Guess I will have to learn how to use VMBox

What does VMBox have to do with that?
One way around this if you are in a public place. Instantly connect to a VPN at your office. Work normally. The other is for the provider to use an SSL certificate. Not that bad considering you can get them for $10-50

The situation is similar here. One every few blocks... Though "Jamba Juices" are becoming more popular with the kids these days.
