I got a new, small, lightweight laptop. I am more concerned about the possibility of theft than with my old, heavy laptop. I was looking at Lojack for laptops. Any one have any comments about it, or any other anti-theft or recovery software?

If you have Windows 7 Ultimate, or can upgrade to it, you can use Bitlocker to encrypt the hard drive.

Thanks, James, I have Win 7 Pro, but could do the upgrade.
But, I would also like to recover the machine if it were stolen which Lojack claims to do successfully.

Windows' built in back will work just fine for that. You can restore the entire machine to a completely different computer as long as the hard drive of the new computer is the same or larger size. You'll need to be prepared to install drivers as well.
