I'm wondering if someone can shed some light on this behavior.

Let's say we are looking at the list of imported items (PDF docs) for a patiient. AC window is not maximized. When we maximize the AC window, the program hangs, then crashes.

Anyone else seeing this kind of behavior? It's happening to more than one machine, so I don't think it's machine-specific.

This started with V6.3.3 and is related to an incompatibility with Adobe Reader 10. Roll back to 9 or 9.5 and the problem should disappear.

I suspected as much. I'm not sure that's an option on one machine, which is running the Pro version of Adobe Acrobat and also has other Adobe apps installed. The other machine, however, does not have Adobe Reader installed. It's running PDF XChange, which is a useful free reader with a small footprint that we like very much.

Is anyone running a PDF reader (non-Adobe) that is not exhibiting the crashing problem?

For reading free-standing PDF files we use and recommend Sumatra .

Fast, free, and low footprint.

Downside, AC handles several Imported Items external apps with hard-coded calls, as JBS has previously noted.

We have run into issue, I either instructed the provider to right click lab and open in default application if they needed a larger view or you can go into preferences in Adobe and select internet and uncheck box to display in browser and it will automatically open it in PDF reader each time.

My receptionist computer was crashing about 5 - 7 times per day. Guardian Angels tried several things, including rebuilding the registry on about 3 different service calls. When she quit dragging items to the chart for I.I., and we went to Updox, problem disappeared!

I had the same problems when I upgraded to Adobe 10.
I found that the simplest way was to use the + button on the tool bar which pops up on the lower part of the screen , which allows you to magnify the document. Otherwise you may have to go back to version 9

I resolved this problem by upgrading to Adobe Reader XI. 10 was giving us crashes left and right, but we have been clean for over a week with version 11.

I've been wanting to figure out what's causing this problem. Does anyone know?

I'll take a stab it later next week.
