Hello all, Microsoft Security Essentials Users: The latest version of Microsoft Security Essentials (updated automatically recently on some systems) mistakenly flags Amazing Charts as a virus. We are in the process of resolving this error with Microsoft. In the meantime, click here to resolve the issue so you can use Amazing Charts with Microsoft Security Essentials running. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Thank you, Anthony@AC Amazing Charts

We deleted all the items MS Essentials picked up on our laptops, but now even with the fix aren't able to get the installer to run again. We can't find the installer in any of the AC folders (on the main AC server or local drives). Any other words of wisdom? As of now, our providers are reverting back to paper!

I feel sorry for pdhardy in Ballard. But if this is Ballard...just north of Seattle I am jealous....I am from Seattle and miss it....got a parking ticket at Ballard locks (by mistake and mayor apologized) and still had a good time....so if you are the Ballard in Seattle area...run up to Redmond...find Bill...and get him to fix this error...I was aout to load up microsoft security....not yet....take care....todd

Is this only a problem with 6.3.3, or with any version of AC?
Thanks. Gene

Hello, An additional issue with Microsoft Security Essentials has been noted by some users seeing a message that certain files Amazing Charts requires are missing. Instructions on correcting this issue can be found on the same site posted in the original posting for the Microsoft Security Essentials issue at http://amazingcharts.com/support/i-want-to-help-myself/troubleshooting/microsoft-security-error/. At this time we have only seen the Microsoft Security Essentials issue presenting for users on version 6.3.3. Thank You, Clayton@AC

Let's see, Amazing Charts can send me e-mail trying to entice me to come to ACUC. They can tweet about meaningful use. But can't send out a simply e-mail warning of this problem and expect me to find this notice here, when I rarely visit these boards? A brief e-mail would have been appreciated, even if only linking to this post. It would have saved me an hour and a half out of my day troubleshooting this error.

So after weeks w/out probs, this has started to randomly happen again on one of our machines. No rhyme or reason to when this occurs. We have followed the instructions, reinstalled AC (it is a client machine), and then out of the blue MS essentials detects threats and AC configuration message pops up with every click. This is hard to troubleshoot b/c of the irregularity, and frustrating because we feel we are just doing the same clean-up over and over; no problems for a few days or weeks then it all starts again. Anyone else having this type of problem?

pdhardy:
did you try just having MS essentials ignore the AC folder?

This is really a simple issue. Either:
1. D/C Microsoft Security Essentials. I don't know why anyone would use it when there are known issues.
2. If the computer you are using is a dedicated computer, which it should be, then don't run antivirus on it. I certainly don't run an antivirus program on my server and never would. More trouble than it's worth. Many big time SBS gurus recommend not using AV on your server.

Anyone else having this type of problem? Yeah, my computers started acting up again too. I set them to ignore the Amazing Charts folders a while ago but something has changed recently. I had no problems for several weeks but all of a sudden this file called Amazing Charts Importer is causing all sorts of hell. Even if it gets deleted or quarantied by the antivirus program, it comes back with a vengeance and causes all sorts of problems.

Did you try telling to allow Amazing Importer.exe? Removing it or quarantining it would be a bad idea.

I am not sure if you are talking about Microsoft Security Essentials, but if this is the antivirus program causing your problem, then uninstall it. There are many antivirus programs out there the are free such as Avira, AVG, Avast, etc.
You can also delete the antivirus program and NOT run an antivirus program. You can only do this if the program AC's database is on is NOT on a client.
It is not best practices to run AC on a computer used by other users.

The title of this thread should be:
Please read: Do not use Microsoft Security Essentials with AC.

Yes, essentially, that's what it amounts to. Along with don't use Internet Explorer with this user board.
Not the best solution, but it is what it is..

Maybe AC can get in contact with them about the false positives.

My guess is Microsoft wouldn't care. They would look at it like our product works, and it your product that isn't.
I guess I shouldn't keep saying this, but I just don't know why it is difficult to use a different brand of antivirus. Essentials hasn't been around that long.
