Hello,
I am new to Amazng Charts, and have a question about ePrescribing. My practice currently uses Allscripts MyWay, and it's configured for ePrescribing. Effective January 1st, we are discontinuing use of that program and switching over to Amazing Charts (licenses have already been purchased, but I don't have the system set up yet). Does anyone have experience with transferring the Surescripts interface from one system to the next? I know it needs "turned off" at Allscripts, then turned on at AC, but I'm not clear on the best/seamless way to do that.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Dean,

Turning on ePrescribing is something that AC does, and you are going to want to get started with that this month so that you get your kinks worked out.

You will know that ePrescribing in AC is "on" when you no longer get an alert when the ePrescribing window opens.

Likely, Allscripts will be turned off for you on the January if you have notified them that you are ending the use of their service.

One part that you may be alluding to is how Pharmacies and the 'beloved' refills find you electronically - that is a tougher process, because pharmacies, especially chains, all have their own methods which vary between manageable and stubbornly obtuse.

You may have a period ahead where you are going to have 'write' new scripts instead of refills. Over time, all but the stubborn or willful will begin to show up in the refills section of AC.

Dean,

When I started with AC, I had been using the free Allscripts.
To start prescribing with AC, you have to go through the activation process with AC.
To redirect the refills, there is a form that must be completed and sent to Surescripts. All refills are routed through Surescripts to the appropriate EMR vendor. (AC actually uses Newcrop as our prescribing module). Someone at AC provided me with the form to complete.

Donna,

Thanks for that tip about the form - didn't know about that.

In our experience with clients, my guess is that we get involved with the exception pharmacies that fax instead of using prescribing networks, even if they have access.

Indy & Donna,

Thank you both for your help. I'll contact AC for the necessary form.

Have a great weekend!

Dean
