In going through the MU report for the childhood immunizations alternate CQM, both the Doctor and I noticed that it applies to children under age 2, but AC appears to report on ages 2-16 who were given a specified vaccination during a visit w/in the reporting period. We do a lot of immunization, but only for children under age 2 and follow the current CDC guidelines. It seems like we will never be able to pull up any denominator numbers if I am reading the AC instructions correctly. Is anyone else facing this problem w/MU reporting?

The numerator will actually only trigger with patients who are 2 years and older. The vaccination can be given to the patient before the age of 2, but the patient will not trigger the CQM until they hit 2 years of age.

Here is the description from CMS about the rule:

"The percentage of children 2 years of age who had four diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP); three polio (IPV); one measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); two H influenza type B (HiB); three hepatitis B (Hep B), one chicken pox (VZV); four pneumococcal conjugate (PCV); two hepatitis A (Hep A); two or three rotavirus (RV); and two influenza (flu) vaccines by their second birthday. The measure calculates a rate for each vaccine and two separate combination rates."

So it sounds like any child over 2 that didn't get all immunations at our clinic or who had vaccine records imported from paper would not be counted unless we actually went back and entered all the vaccine history under HM: Immunizations. I will have to pull a report for all children age 2.5 and see if all information is entered whether they pop up or not.

Sounds right - although work I have my staff enter all historical vaccines so I have current record in AC. We also enter all adult vaccine info I get including flu shots, pneumonia shots and zostavax. Extra work but record is better.
