Josephine,
I was just looking at the Hyatt Regency on Capital Hill website and was a bit surprised there will be an additional fee for wireless internet--is there a McDonald's/Starbucks close by???

Hi Jimmie-
If you are staying at the Hyatt under the Amazing Charts block then you will have free wireless internet in your room. We're also working on providing free wireless internet for all attendees during the conference sessions.

Great!!! I don't care much for Starbucks, much prefer Gloria Jean's Macamamia nut flavored K-cups. but the Southwest style MickyeD's salad isn't too bad but could have been tolerated. So thank you for your quick response and reducing my exposure to Starbucks/McD's.

Sounds great about the free wifi. We ACUC attendees can bring a hotels wifi to its knees as we did at the Westin Providence in 2010 :-)

Is the general election November 2nd this year?-- if so need to make sure I get my absentee ballot in and I imagine DC will be a little cluttered at that time. So flight schedules will need to be made sooner than later.

Hi All- The official date of the 2012 Election is Tuesday, November 6, 2012 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_elections,_2012). No absentee ballots will be necessary this year (unless of course you extend your stay in DC past our conference) You're welcome to post here or join the event on our Facebook event page.

Living pretty close to DC, we have often acted as unofficial tour guides and travel agents over the years. This Hyatt is a great choice. The hotel is nice, prices are very reasonable (especially for DC), and the location is unbeatable. There are 3 airports within reach (though traffic and parking can be a challenge; a shuttle or cab should be considered). If a train is an option, Union Station is a 3 block walk from the hotel. The Hyatt sits just off of the mall, so great views of the Capital, Mall, and Washington Monument are within a few steps. If you are travelling with family, you are within walking distance of many more museums than you can hope to see in a long weekend. Air and Space, the National Gallery, and several other of the Smithsonian Museums are "must sees", depending on your personal tastes.

Just checked .... there is always a little Navy Football Saturday.
Florida Atlantic Owls Navy-Marine Corps Mem. Stadium, Annapolis, MD	3:30 p.m. ET CBS SN
More seriously, if someone wants a tour of the USNA grounds before or after ACUC proper, let me know. I could even reach out to the Offshore Sailing squadron to see if there is room on a boat Friday or Monday.

Hi Carla,
We hold an annual users conference every year. Right now I do not have preliminary plans for ACUC 2013. Once we have a preliminary date and location, that information will be posted here.
Looking forward to meeting your staff members in a couple of weeks in DC!

Dear ACUC 2012 Attendees and Sponsors ?
We are carefully monitoring reports on Hurricane Sandy. Because the storm is expected to peak on Monday into Tuesday, we are hopeful that the effects will be negligible by Thursday. Should a true natural disaster occur?such as power loss in the Washington DC area?and we are unable to hold the conference at hotel, the cost of your registrations and Friday night party tickets will be fully refunded.
Please stay tuned for more information as we get it.

Leslie, you forget which city you are talking about. There is enough hot air in DC to blow away storms and dry things out, well before Friday.

Todd,
Although I also have two generators, I think I could survive without them. Just give me a truck bed load of 7 year old paper charts and some rifle shells and I would give Daniel Boone a run for his money!

Yes, I'm sure it will be beautiful there by Friday. Just too many unknowns and so we've made the unbelievably difficult decision to cancel ACUC 2012! More here. Jon

Any plans to reschedule? We of course were excited to get some one on one time and some questions answered that have been long burning for our practice. TOTALLY disappointed but understand the need to cancel. Just hoping that we can reschedule in the near future in particular to review the upcoming V 7 info.

There is apparently a 48 hour cancellation policy at the Hyatt. They did waive it but it took extra time.
I RECOMMEND CANCELLING YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

I had the same experience trying to cancel the hotel. I was told that I had to call prior to 3pm today in order to avoid the "penalty". After some explaining that I am on the west coast and I did not even get notice until after 3 pm, that would have been impossible. A little patience and further explanation that the entire conference was cancelled seemed to get them to move in the right direction. In the end it did take an extra 15 minutes but they relented and waived the fee. Now to deal with the airlines. I hold out less hope with them...... Looking forward to hearing that everything at the home office is up and running, that all persons and their families are safe and that recovery there on the east coast is as quick as it can be. I called the Hyatt at 202-737-1234 and asked for reservation(actually transferred to Omaha office) - when asked why I was cancelling I told them that the conference scheduled there was cancelled due to weather and they cancelled my reservation with no charge, just tell them that the conference was cancelled and I had no problem.

American Airlines rather than refunding, gave me a credit that can be used over the next year. No $150 change fee or such. Only problem was getting through on the phone.

I didn't. I told them that I needed to cancel because of the hurricane and that was it. Actually, I was surprised. I expected to be slapped in the face.
Apparently United has stated they will not charge a fee to reschedule up to a year, I figured AA was following suit, but didn't question it.

I ran into the same thing, being told the ticket purchased orignally was non-refundable. She suggested rebooking (for a flight by Dec. 20th) I told her that we had the intention to rebook when the conference was rescheduled. I explained that everyone was working to waive fees, including banks and hotels, do to the unforseen, uncontrollable circumstance. I suggested, politely, that I speak with a supervisor, as I understood they must be inundated with requests of a similar nature. The supervisor said she could issue credit vouchers by mail, but not refund the full amount. Good Luck:)

My wife and I are in the airport waiting for our flight to D.C. Sad to miss the conference, but on the bright side what's not to like about a few days to relax in D.C.?
