almost everything is shut down in NYC in anticipation. Of course, I am in our office w/o staff, but student is here!! Conditions are not bad at the moment, but expected to get worse. My boss's area has been evacuated!

They just Canceled all after school activities here in Liverpool, NY, just north of Syracuse. I hear Syracuse School District simply Canceled school completely. I wonder what SU and SUNY's are doing around this area. It looks like we are going to have a very slow, slow day. So I might head home soon to be with our sort of snotty and half sick 14 year old daughter. Not a bad day to miss classes I guess.

A couple of hours ago the path the Weather Channel was showing was to have the center of the storm basically go right overhead here in CNY, Central NY... So I guess I better make sure all the little LED Flashlights have their batteries ready and the like. At least we have a good camp stove for some basic cooking and the like. But at least it seems like mostly high winds for about a 24 hour period, 35-50 mph with some sustained gusts of about 60 or so they were saying starting at around 2 pm today into tomorrow around 5 pm... SO it might be a downed trees, power and phone like storm for us up here.... talk to ya later and everyone hang in there..... "Batten Down the Hatches Men!!!!"

Keep your chins up (easier not to go under the water)

But seriously, hope you all weather the storm without incident.

Our windy city is trying to earn it's name today, sending you some bluster.

Yes, as we monitor the weather, flights, and where everybody is coming from - we just made the unbelievably difficult decision to cancel ACUC 2012!

More to come soon, but a bit more here.

I am sure that was an incredibly difficult decsion to make for you all! However, family and safety come way before business. You are a wise group to have collectively made this call. Perhaps in the spring when the cherry blossoms fill the air with beauty? Be well, be safe and above all be assured that we all appreciate the tussle it took to get to this decision.

Disappointed but you can't control the weather.
