The physician whom I share space with uses All Scripts. I don't know much about All Scripts, but it has one feature which I think is terrific. All Scripts is using a program developed by IMO (Intelligent Medical Objects, Inc.)which allows you to use your naturally using language when inputting a diagnosis in the assessment section. You input the diagnosis & it automatically gives corresponding ICD-9 (& ICD_10) code numbers. It is done seamlessly. I have a web based version of the program which I find extremely helpful, but is not as good as if it were integrated into AC. It allows us to use real, natural language in our assessment, instead of the stilted ICD-9 language. I know that you can edit ICD-9 codes names inAC, but then you have to remember exactly how you wrote it. The point here is that one of the IMO developers has tried to show his product to AC developers, but has gotten nowhere. I'm wondering if there is a way that he can show his wares to AC people who might be interested if they actually saw the product. Is there someone whom either I or he can talk to to get the ball rolling.

Neil, For what it is worth...a quick look at IMO suggests to me that you are absolutely right: this could add some value to AC. Even as a stand alone it has some value; with full integration into the program it would be far better. You might try emailing Jon Bertman. There are a couple of users here who seem to have his ear. Perhaps they might notice your post and take up the effort to get some attention for IMO.

Thanks for your comments. Does anyone know Dr. Bertman's e-mail address? Also, who are the users who have his ear? Perhaps I could talk to them. Neil Lattin

Oh, we're always listening (not in a stalkerish way...but as a lurker. Wait, both sound kinda creepy). Anyway, our development team is still backed up in terms of interfaces to third party programs such as the one you note. One of our primary goals is to interface with as many different products as possible - and those that folks love will do best (i.e., those most usable and most affordable). We do have an early SDK (Software Developers Kit) which we plan on expanding to allow other software developers to add their apps to Amazing Charts as it continues to grow and mature. These remain our grand plan, but right now the reality is that we are focused on getting V7, with integrated Practice Management module, debugged and released (see status here and preview of what it can do here). Once complete, I believe we will be able to open the gates and let through those with great products who have been waiting so patiently to get in. BTW, if you are, or know of a great company wishing to be part of our rapidly growing community, let us know.

Bert, no apology necessary. Your comments are valid - and the point of this board, and company, are about transparency, honesty, and doing right by clients, patients, employees, etc. (aka Kind Capitalism). A difficult balancing act, and sometimes I/we trip.
The speed and dexterity with which we accomplish the recommendations of our growing community is not satisfactory - and I am focused on how to solve this -along, of course, with getting V7 released bug-free!
Peace.

Dr. Bertman, I appreciate your comments & thank you for responding. Can you give me some specific guidance as to what to tell the folks at IMO? Neil Lattin

Neil,
You may want to email Jon at the email address above. He may be more willing to share that information with you in an email and not in an open forum.
Just a though.

No problem, Bert. It is actually a common question, Neil. I didn't mean to be evasive, I just can't say for sure as it depends on how smoothly our current priorities advance. Let me clarify:
Our current priorities are to complete our beta testing and release Amazing Charts V7 with Practice Management, continue MU Stage II development, and work through the (long) list of user improvements, interfaces and partners on which we have been backlogged.
Hazarding a guess - perhaps early next year we might have the resources to focus on improving our ability to take advantage of cool tools, like the one you mention (i.e., enhancing our SDK/API for third party developers to write apps). But, whether we actually get the specific one integrated depends on how easy/hard to actually integrate, cost and contract complexities, etc. (The reality is we tend to pick the easy, free, no obligation partners first.) Hope this helps.

Seriously, sitting with a group of guys in their 20's, it is hard for them to understand what life was like before the "hook-up" culture. Culture Clash is an understatement.

JamesNT Not my fault you are an OF now. I remember a few years ago when a younger hacker called me an OG - had to go find out what that was.
