When I receive 50 pages of records in Updox, but only a few pages are relevant, can I delete some of the pages before or after importing? If not, then can someone please remind me how to do backups excluding imported items? Thanks.

Before importing, select the individual pages within UpDox by clicking on the selection box below each document page. Then only import those specific pages into Amazing Charts.

Once the document is imported, I think the only way to delete a portion of it is to print it and re-import the desired pages. That can easily be done by "printing" to Updox and importing only what you want. Of course the same thing can be done with printing to paper and re-scanning, or with some pdf management programs, but those processes will require several additional steps (as compared to doing it with Updox).

You can certainly delete select pages of imported PDFs (without UpDox):
1. right click on the imported item from the list 2. choose "Open(in default application)" 3. in Adobe and most other PDF software, there should be a tab on the left that says something like "Pages"... select that, it shows then in the left panel the miniature pages of the file... select/highlight the pages you don't like and press the "Delete" button on your keyboard (or use the right-click menu on the pages to select 'delete'). 4. It should ask you if you are sure you want to delete the pages, say 'yes' 5. Save file, or when closing the file, it should ask you if you want to save it, again say 'yes'.

Chris, the default application for my Imported Items is Adobe Reader (as I believe it is for many users). Can you explain how to do this with that program?

I tried it using Adobe Reader and could not accomplish it.

One way that fits in the free category is to install LibreOffice (or OpenOffice), and then use the Writer tool to open the PDF, edit the pages, then re-save.
One caution, don't make the mistake of setting that application as the default file handler, as AC makes hard calls to WinWord, etc instead of making a system call. It will break functionality inside of AC because of those hard calls.

My Adobe Reader won't allow this either. I worked around it by deleting the whole imported item from the AC chart, then going back to Updox and only importing the needed pages.

yeah, sorry, it seems I'm used to the Adobe Standard that came with my scanner. getting it, or a less expensive one (PDF-XChange?) may be worth the investment given the time/headaches it apparently saves.

I use PDF-Xchange but you have to buy the pro version to use the delete function or it will put a stamp on your pdf document.

Adobe standard can delete pages. I have V7 from my Scansnap and it works well. Most of the time I print to cutePDF for the relevant pages I want to import. I'm not using Updox, so I can't comment on it.
