Can anyone and everyone recommend time clocks in the $300.00 to $500.00 range. Accuacy and ease of use would be helpful. Links would also be helpful.

I use an online time clock for my employees.
I've been using this since I started my practice over four years ago and it has worked out very well. It has kept records for all employees since the beginning.

For myself as administrator and 2 employees, it's about $21.00 per month. ($2.00 per month for each additional employee.)
It's very easy to generate reports on a weekly basis and does all the calculations for me - including keeping track hours, overtime, employees accrued personal time, holiday time, and any other category you may want to make.

My staff likes it. Easy to navigate and they can monitor accrued personal time
easily. A little bit of a learning curve to first use it (for me, not them), but now I really like it.

I use a program called picture time clock by Guia International. It is FREE! (They would like you to use their other products, but no hassle and no spam or such.) I actually have no need for their other programs but it's a great program.

I have been using it for probably about 5-6 years.

It can take a picture of who is clocking in to verify the employee, but I am not using that feature now, tried it in the past but didn't bother continuing.

At the end of two weeks log in, and it will give me the log in and log out hours for all employees. It can adjust for breaks after 5 hours and such. It does not calculate personal and other times. It's a basic database.

I then plug the numbers into quickbooks and let it do the rest.

I obviously have no financial interest in the free program.

Thanks guys. I am a bit in trouble with online time clocks. I will look into them. I purchased one a couple of years ago, and the learning curve was straight up. Ended up scrapping it and was out $500.

But, maybe these are better. Not sure I can convince my office manager on the $80 a month cost. Maybe others will know if that is a good deal.

Why did you scrape it?

It was extremely difficult even with support on the phone everyday.

AttendanceRX seems to be a fan favorite with my clients.

I have not used this model, but have an older one which I have used for several years. It works well and helps keep time accurately. I found that it made it much easier to do payroll at the end of the month.

Certainly is affordable at 206 dollars.

Previously bought PunchClock "lifetime" license, but apparently it expired in 2010. They wanted me to pay yearly for their new version LionClock. Got fed up and just use an Excel Spreadsheet.

Anyone use physical time clocks. I am interested in the online, but just want to look at all the options.

One of the issues I have found with time clocks which accurately measure times of in and out vs where employees just write down in paper is the lunch factor.

Employees who forget to write that in or write it in at the end of the day will not be as accurate, etc.

But, with a time clock, last time I always ran into the problem of, "Oh, I forgot to clock out at lunch or I forgot to clock back in, forcing me to approve it, which was hard not to do. Should I make this a longer run on sentence?

Sandeep, do you have a copy of that Excel sheet? And, the first date looks wrong. Are all of the dates automatic?

Yea they are. I had to edit the first one because they forgot to clock in. Must've entered the wrong day.

Do you mind emailing me a copy? Or is it proprietary?

I would need to set it up as all the saving functions and what not are to a specific folder on my server.

OK, we'll just pay our employees based on yours, lol.

We use time card manager about thirty bucks. Had problems with first release but great since. Very easy to use and can set up on multiple computers.

We pay during "breaks". We have employees talk to office manager when they forget to punch. They do not want to get on her bad side as she signs their paychecks.

I am using the time clock function of Intuit Online Payroll (which is a great product). I pay my employees for their lunch time as they rarely get their 15 minute breaks throughout the day.

I am using Time Clock MTS. It is a physical Time Clock and not ONLINE version. I am very happy with it. Check it out at http://www.timeclockmts.com
It has more features than I need for my office. Cost is one time fee of $69.00 (I guess!!).

AttendanceRX clocks the employee in when they log on to their computer.

We use picture time clock, and it allows you to set the times, and automatically deduct for lunch/break time without the employee having to clock in and out in the middle of the day.
Its not fancy at all, but its free and works.

We're looking for a physical time clock too. Did you find one you liked? We have a similar office - one doctor, 5 employees.

I looked at the TimeclockMTS site, but I'm a little confused. It doesn't say antying about a physical time clock, just the software.

Funny you should ask. I am looking to make the purchase now. Latham seems to be the best. The one I wanted (the pricier one, of course) didn't seem to get good reviews by users. But, there weren't many, the n was low.

After a good deal of research and purchasing an online and complicated one, (could do everything from checking them in to seeing when they left from home), I don't want to go that route again.

I basically need time in, lunch out, time in, end of day. Staff want something they can hold in their hands like a time card. And, I know my practice consultant wants that. So, I will review it again and let you know.

I also downloaded trials of many timeclock software but didn't find one that I liked. I also think a manual one would be preferred by the staff.

I used to really like Punch Clock/Lion Clock for their ease of use and simplicity. Purchased a lifetime license over 10 years ago. Cleverly they programmed a kill code that would make it stop working in 2010. Their recommendation was to switch to the new one which they charge for yearly. It would only be 60 a year, but the fact that they did that made me find an alternative one.
