Patient comes in for visit. We offer Zostavax (or any other vaccine). Patient refuses. We document refusal.
Next time patient comes in under Decision Support/Zostavax/Prior records of 'Zostavax': AC records that vaccine was given--there's not indication that it was refused. Also, if we print a vaccination record it prints up suggesting that Zostavax was given. Yes, it prints in red (if we used a color printer)--but no one will realize that this means the vaccine wasn't given.
Has anyone found a way around this problem?

Hi there
I understand the problem- we have the same issue. Since we have to print out or fax vaccine histories for schools, they never come out red, so it looks like it was given. So we don't document refusal- we just leave it be, showing it is due, or right-click on it, and "ignore this recommendation" and document in the chart notes that it was refused. Then you won't see it again anywhere.
Not ideal, but that what we came up with.

Thanks, Julia. That's a good suggestion re: vaccine refusal. If anyone at AC is listening, it sure would be nice to fix this issue once and for all.
