I seem to be having 2 problems with incoming controlled meds scripts. First, the requesting pharmacy is nowhere on a printed prescription. This makes it very inconvenient to do because you have to remember where the precription originated after you print it. Second, and more importantly, is that the quantities are not showing up on the prescription or in the medication history. I have to write it in by hand after the Rx is printed. This is making it extremely difficult to track these meds (i.e. are the patients calling early etc...). Is this a system wide issue or do I have a "gremlim" in my computer. Any responses/hints etc.. would be appreciated - Thanks, Bob

The issue of if not having the pharmacy name is systemwide - that is not part of the program.

The quantities are weird - if an electronic request comes to you for a controlled substance then the only way for you to do this "match" which should have the quantities and then when you hit send it will say you have to hand sign and it will print for you to fax, I hit match and then deny and write new - go in and do scrip /print/fax.

ePrescribe seems to have changed the refill culture. We refills meds at a way higher rate than before.

We aren't obligated to refill these meds and, in face, you can deny it with the reason that they should call or come to the office. How many patients are you allowing to do more than two or three oxycodones or Concertas before seeing them?

I set a number as to how often to see controlled substances - but like to do refills so I can monitor how often they are requesting. Oxycodone and Concerta require them to pick up from office, but things like ambien are scheduled so I often will give refills for a total of 6 months and then have them come back in.
