I have read the Hardware recommendations by Sandeep and feel that they are very good but have questions about users like myself that use Voice recognition such as Dragon. Would there be any other parameters that I would need to consider (other than getting a good mike, sound board, upgrading to windows 7 and lots of memory 8 gigs or better)?

Any of the builds, I recommend exceed the requirements.

The main parts that affect performance are the CPU, Memory, and the disk (often overlooked).

Medium Intel or High Intel

4-8GB should be good for the Memory/RAM.

For the Processor, the high i5-3450 should perform very well. I suspect that the very high model would have little to no benefit for you.

The disk is one thing that's overlooked. It's the bottleneck in most systems nowadays. The SSDs are very snappy and should improve the responsiveness of the computer quite a bit.
