Hi

Just received a call from a local pharmacy re:one of my scripts printed from AC.
It had the wrong patient name, birthdate, insurance info etc but the correct drugs. (Mr. B's Rx had Mr. H's name etc on it). I never read the name on the Rx before I handed it to the patient.

When I go into past encounters for both patients the Rx is listed under the correct patient's chart and not on the one printed on the Rx. (Listed under Mr. B's chart and not on Mr. H's)

This frightened me alot!!!

I do regular maintenance and back up's etc and haven't run into this problem before. Anyone ever have a problem like this before? Any ideas?

Karl

That is very strange, Karl.

Since you handed the patient the prescription, I assume that you went to the Prescription Pad from within the encounter form?

(i.e., you were in the middle of creating a note, as opposed to just right-clicking on their name in the patient list and selecting "Medications/Prescription Pad").

I have never heard of anything like this before. Have you called technical support?

If not, please do, and tell us what they say!

Yeah, I was with the patient at the time with the encounter opened up. I first thought I must have made the mistake myself.....but I can't figure it out yet.

I hope it doesn't happen again.

If I find anything out I'll let you know. Hopefully I can find a few spare moments to make a call to tech support.

My best luck with Tech Support is to contact them via Live Chat, and they will call you if they can't manage the problem that way.

Please do let them know about this; it may keep it from happening to others!

Wow....I'll be making sure I'm reading the names today.

The only thing I've had happen with scripts, is that they get photocopied! Now...anything I'm concerned about, including ALL scheduled medications, is printed on tamper proof paper. I sign in blue or purple and write the pharmacy's name on the script (I do this on all scripts).

Hi Karl,

Welcome to Amazing Charts, if somewhat belatedly. That would have been a pretty scary event. Here's my take on it. Just another one of my opinions.

It is still more likely this event was due to a rather weird combination of user entry than an inherent problem with AC. Backing your program and/or running AmazingUtilities would most likely have no bearing on it either way.

I wouldn't go through the whole process of calling Tech Support, et al, unless it were to happen again. A lot of users have used AC for a long time and thousands of scripts have been printed and, if this were a bug in AC, it seems as though it would have surfaced before. I think posting here and seeing if it has happened to anyone else WHICH YOU DID smile is the best course of action.

There used to be a problem with AC ALONG with a user entry issue that caused two patients to populate the subject line of messages. It would actually enter one name and then two of the other. I can't even recall what series of events had to occur for it to happen but it happened at least once a week.

What probably happened is that there was some user entry issue ALONG with the fact that AC allowed those entries to produce this problem. I have tried to reproduce the problem, and as those who know me on the boards, I will probably continue to smile

Best of luck! And welcome again.

Thanks for the replies guys, it hasn't happened again.....so I'm guessing that I somehow made it happen (god help NASA if they ever hired me!!!!)

Hopefully I will see only smooth sailing from here on.

Take care

Karl
