How does everyone handle the phone call refill requests? Our office sends a message to the doctor through the refill option, prepare script and prescribe but do not "transmit to pharmacy". We send the message to the provide who in turn prepares and prescribes the medication electronically. I believe this is crushing us on the number for the eRx Menu 4 measure. Does anyone have a way around this that does not include having the front desk and medical assistants/nurses manually type in the drug and dose in a message and send it to the provider?

We have the front desk or the technicians just send us a message with the patient's chart attached saying what the patient needs a refill of. Then the doctor does the escribing. It works better this way for me anyway, since I'm the one who needs to make the decision about how many refills the patient should get anyway.
