As an eye doc, I find it difficult to fulfill the CQM requirements. Most of the choices do not apply to my specialty, and the one that does (Diabetic Eye Exam - NQF 0055) I cannot get to work. I go through the trouble of utilizing the HM rules and decision support for diabetic eye exam on a patient with the diagnosis of DM and who takes oral diabetic medications, but when I run the report it does not show that I have utilized that portion of the EMR. I get the big red "X". It is worth mentioning that there are 38 additional CQM measures, but only 18 are listed in AC. Sucks to be me, since several of the other measures that can be utilized for reporting are ophthalmic specific include diabetic macular edema, glaucoma, dilated eye exam and screening for retinopathy, all of which are not tracked by Amazing Charts. What is also interesting is that when I do run a report for Meaningful Use, AC says that I have fulfilled most of the required CQM criteria, even though I do not measure any of the data it looks for (like colorectal cancer screening). Huh? Also, I don't understand how AC supposedly gathers some of this data. For example, Menu 4 for Meaningful Use is sending patient reminders. How does tallying the number of patients who I have documented a preferred contact method, relate to the percentage of patients who we send reminders to? Basically, I think that Amazing Charts is pretty screwed up when it comes to tracking and fulfilling the requirements for Meaningful Use, and I hope we don't all end up in prison for taking the proverbial bait laid out by good old Uncle Sam.

Are you adding a Cpt for the office visit? Without this it does not show up.

I'm an ophthalmologist, too, and I'm having the same problem. What I find even weirder is that when I run the meaningful use wizard it says that out of the two diabetic patients that it has chosen to include in my numerator and denominator, they are being excluded from the denominator. What does that even mean?!? I wish there was a way that we could see the names of the patients that actually are being including in the wizard's counts, so that I could tell what I did right for those patients. On another note, I actually called the help desk to see if they could include more of the ophthalmology specific CQMS, and they said that they were only approved the 18 they already have, and they weren't adding any more anytime soon.
