I just bought a new TSP800 printer with the wireless interface. As had been noted on this board the support at star is nonexistent and so is documentation. Has anyone had any luck configuring the wireless interface? I can't get the printer to grab an IP address so i can attach to it and configure the printer. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have set up a few TSP800s, both ethernet & USB interfaces, but I can find absolutely nothing on the new wireless interface. You will probably need to call Star Micronics tech support. Please post your findings...this board may eventually be the best place to find out how to configure the TSP800 to work with Amazing Charts.

Brian,
I wouldn't go so far as to say they have no tech support. But I and likely everyone on here agrees their support and website and instructions, etc. are severely lacking.
If you still need help, let me know, and I (and probably John) will give it a shot.
I have spent many a long night working on the TSP.

Well, I typed about a 10 paragraph post but, somehow, lost it. Not very happy. So, I will need to give the smaller version. First, is it the 800 or 800II? I didn't think they made the 800s anymore. Second with printer paper in the printer, turn it off, press on the button in the small recessed area in the front of the printer, and turn on the printer. This will cause the printer to print out a complete configuration. Look at the very bottom and see if the network setting are listed. I will include a link to quite a bit of info and software. This may allow you to configure an IP. The best way is to allow it to obtain an IP address via DHCP if you have it on in your router or on your server. If it is on, then the printer should already have an IP. You don't configure the printer using any of the software or a browser. You can see some info using a browser and the IP and see the network settings with the username and password of "root" and "public" but there is almost no information that way. Instead you use print driver to create your settings. After Add Printer, you use the IP address to make a port, and after install, select printer properties to set everything the correct way. After this, go to AC admin section and ensure it is set up correctly. cbaldwin@starmicronics.com_remove. If you need support from TSP, email Christine. She will make sure it is set up for you. I would definitely mention my name and business. The software and documentation is here

Bert, et. al.,
Thanks for the info on the TSP setup. Now that I have it up and running, and it worked GREAT on the test machine, I put it into production and now nothing prints. The job shows up in the queue, it says it is printing, disappears from the queue, but doesn't print.
I have run every diagnostic from print utility, I have logged into the printer and checked every setting. It prints a test page fine, but will NOT print a prescription.
What am I missing now?
I figured out the wireless problem. The printer thinks it is a wireless router and broadcasts its own ssid. I cannont figure out to make it recognize the office wireless, so I just set up a PC to connect to the printer's wireless and then configured it from there. Brian

Don't forget Christine OK, this really sounds like a driver issue. Star Micronics can drive you crazy with drivers. Unbelievable. At some point, I would have them choose a driver -- better yet have them choose the driver and remote in and install it, etc. Make sure it works. I wouldn't worry about all of the diagnostics and print test pages other than to get all of the parameters. On the pc that solves the wirless problem, can you install a driver on it and print from there? If so, can you share that print driver and use it on the other computers? Sometimes you have to make it the default driver. On the IP address of the computer's print driver, are you using the IP of the computer with the wireless set up or the Star printer? Sorry I am a little confused. I think you are saying it connects to the PC and then you use the computer's IP. Can you run an Ethernet cord directly to the switch? That really sounds weird with the Star becoming its own wireless router. Something seems wrong there. Do you have a small wireless router you could obtain an IP address on and attach the printer to it? It still seems it would be easiest to send it back for a USB model if they still make them.

Bert,
Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I agree it is a driver issue. I put the tsp800 driver on (the printer is a tsp800II) and went back to printing the postage stamp size, BUT IT PRINTED.
Yes, I have to printer connected to laptop with a wireless card (set to 10.10.11.99 and the printer is set to 10.10.11.155) and I have a wire connected to the laptop (set to 10.10.10.25) I can see the printer, print to it via test print, etc, share it and print to it remotely from another pc, but it will NOT print prescriptions.
I changed the settings on the printer to friction and 104 x 200 on ALL the pages and now the print queue says no "LETTER is loaded in any tray on printer". I will continue to try different paper sizes and friction and auto and letter and 104 x 200, etc until SOMETHING works.
Thanks, Brian

Sorry about my ineptitude with wireless. I am two for two on setting up wireless routers. Very exciting. My next venture will be the wireless access point.
So, two dumb questions:
1. what are your settings on the prescription formats in admin in AC?
2. What version AC are you using?

Bert,
Sorry, I forgot the basics when asking for help.
I have it set for NY, upper left, print header on prescription.
I am running 6.3.3.
Win 7 Home and P2P (Yes, I know what your feelings are on this topic, but.....)
Thanks, Brian

Could be wrong, but the only way I can get it to work is to make sure the settings are:
TSP800 and Format 1.
Try it. If it works, then look into your New York rules after.
