Top Right (AC User Name) Instead of Windows Users Name
I believe the rest are obvious as to what they are.

Underlined in red are the new changes.

And you're welcome!

Viper - 5.0.6.6 and under do as follows.

When Viper ask's to update choose Install

You will be prompted to enter a password, I suggest something simple as all users will use this password to use Viper

Select person from Drop Down and enter the password you just set to Viper

Under Help - Click Maintenance and let it finish.

User Viper as normal

Thanks

If you are using Viper for the first time, you wouldn't need to use Maintenance.

As what Bert said is True, if you run it anyway, it wouldn't matter.

VIPER site back up and all fixes appear to be working fine.

http://www.medwaresoftware.com

Thanks Bert for all your help.

Please report any errors you find to http://www.medwaresoftware.com click where it says Report a Bug or use this link http://www.medwaresoftware.com/Bugs.aspx

Chances are I will not see a bug that you post here and the link on the website sends the report directly to me.

Hi Ed,

If we have the old version already installed, do I just go to the medware website and click install for the new version?

Also, on some computers where I've already installed VIPER, a desktop icon was not created. I couldn't figure out where the program lives. How do I get that shortcut?

Thanks!

Hi Ed,

This happens to me after I installed the latest version of viper 2 days ago.

If I give a vaccine, say Dtap, and put a check mark on "ACCEPTED VIS", Dtap will not show up in the list in viper. It will show up in AC Summary with the date colored red.

Dtap or any given vaccine will however show up in the viper list and in AC Summary if I don't put a check mark on "ACCEPTED VIS".

Thanks,

itom

Please retry install, Bert brought this same issue to my attention the other day, and I beleieve we fixed it. I am guessing that you got the version just before the fix.

You'll know you have the newest version because the Accepted VIS will not be there. As it has been removed.

Thanks

Ok I have worked with Bert and we have fixed the Missing Vaccine from VIPER please install the newest version from,

http://www.medwaresoftware.com

Install it right over the old one,
After it loads you will need to run the Maintenance from the help menu.

Help - Maintenace "LET IT FINISH"
Even if this is a clean install of VIPER, run the Maintenace.

Even though you will be installing this on many pc's, you only need to run the maintenance on just ONE PC. Once it's finished it not needed to be run again, unless asked to do so.

Note that most of the old issues are coming from the file Settings.ini

If you have a startup problem please delete this file.

C:\ProgramData\Medware Software Inc\V.I.P.E.R\Settings.ini
Just the file, not the whole folder.

Note:
On some PC's this folder is Hidden, Just copy and paste
C:\ProgramData\Medware Software Inc\V.I.P.E.R
into your Address Bar Above
and hit enter

Once in the folder delete the settings.ini file.

Thanks

AC has been working with Ed to get VIPER and AC working together smoothly. For those who have used VIPER in the past, you know that the code has always been rock solid. The only reason any issue has arisen is due is to the changes needed to be made due to MU.

Ed was at my practice nearly all day on Friday. Just wanted to thank him for that.

One thing that would help for AC and me would be for anyone using VIPER to email me at my email address in my profile: badams AT riverviewpediatrics.org_removespam. This would be invaluable in knowing who we are working with.

V.I.P.E.R is now vaccine registry compatible. Plus, Ed added a REALLY COOL FEATURE.

There was an issue with reading vaccines in Viper, not entering. That is fixed. Remember, Viper has been rock solid for three years. MU's requirement of exporting vaccines caused us to make a few changes.

If you are not on v6.0.26 or .28, you shouldn't use it. You must run maintenance once and have each user download the .26 or .28 version (all should have the same). Ed can tell you if there are any differences.

As requested before, it would really be helpful if those using Viper sent an email to my email address with your practice name, username, etc. If you think about it, most software you download including AC asks for some basic information.

We really need to know what practices are using it in case there is a crucial update.

I will be giving everyone five days, then we are moving this thread to a PM. This will allow us to know who is using the software and for everyone to speak more freely about ideas and questions.

Thanks,

Bert

Ok new things fixed and added.

I Added a VIS selection to the Add/Remove Vaccines.
As stated above I have fixed the Records not showing.
I Made a maitenance under the help, please use it at least once, what this does is correct the issues do to the incompatibility we were having with AC. Should resolve 90% or better the issues that are known. But keep in mind, I only know what AC is willing to share and so far they have been great about doing that.

.29 is the most recent version and I beleive that it is back to being rock solid. As Bert stated above, most of the issue that are arrising are 2 fold,

1. AC makes changes to their program and of course we wold have no idea, so compatibility seems to pop up.

2. I'll just quote Bert... ("MU's requirement of exporting vaccines caused us to make a few changes.")

Thanks

If they do not want the VIS, don't do anything, and it will default to declined VIS. If they want it, you have two options: You can check Accepted VIS and hand them a paper VIS you already have. Or, you can select: Print, then print current VIS. The VISs can be kept in a folder on the network. Each vaccine that has been configured has a browse button so you can browse to the VIS PDF. This will then show the path to the VIS in the vaccine window and will be remembered. You don't have to do it each time.

So, if you wish you can click on Print, then Print Current VIS, and it will print the PDF to whatever printer you chose as the default and record it as being accepted.

When a VIS is declined, it will not show it was accepted in the database. Any time you save a vaccine without checking or printing the VIS, a window will appear asking you if the patient really declined the VIS. If they did, you select yes, if they did not, select no. If you choose no, it will check the Accepted VIS box and save the vaccine (very quickly).

For some reason, when VIPER records a vaccine as declined VIS, it appears in red in AC. I am not sure why. It doesn't matter as far as logistics go. I guess if the VIS were more important (I find it ridiculous), then the red would be rather helpful.

If you have ideas or recommendations, please list them. For a myriad of reasons, they may not be incorporated into VIPER, but many of you are much smarter than I. Ed, though, is a genius. Never met anyone as smart as he is.

I am a new user to VIPER. Have installed it, run maintenance, made shared folder under AC on my server but no vaccines have populated. I do have all of the patients' names and records on VIPER. Is this a glitch?

I was typing "f" for fluzone instead of "i" for influenza. Unfortunately, the influenza list does not show the Fluzone adult form (90658), nor the high dose Fluzone from Sanofi. Do you recommend choosing by CPT code and ignoring the name of the vaccine that is associated with the code?

This is an interesting suggestion and I had not thought of it. I will look into populating the list via a typed in CPT Code.

Thanks for the suggestion as it is a valid one and in my opinion worth looking into implementing into VIPER.

How do I enter a 90662 (high dose flu shot)?
How do I enter Fluzone that is 90658?

Influenza ~ Agriflu ~ 425 = CPT code 90658
as for the 90662
This would be a good question for Dr. Adams - Bert!

Catherine,

One thing you may find useful is to have your MA or you talk with Brianna, my CMA, for 15 to 30 minutes. She has literally been using VIPER since Ed first released it. If there is a question about vaccine and vaccine entry or anything about how to use it, she would know. She is basically the VIPER Queen. You could also exchange emails and ask questions as necessary.

I checked AC's database and I do not see the 90662, which means it can not be added via viper as per the request of AC that we no longer add vaccines that are not already contained in AC.

I would guess that if enough people sent AC tech support an email about it, that they will indeed add it to the Vaccine list though.

We will be sure to add those two vaccines into the database for the next upcoming release of AC. We do our best to monitor and maintain the list of available vaccines, but if you know of any others that we are missing, please don't hesitate to let me know.

With regards to the Fluzone High Dose and Fluzone Intradermal vaccines, we have now uploaded the newest vaccine tables available. Users on version 6.3.3 will get the newest tables with these vaccines included.

For those of us still using an earlier version 6, what I do is just select Fluzone, select proper volume and route, and add in the comments intradermal or high dose to differentiate from regular Fluzone.

While we will likely be moving all VIPER discussion to a PM, currently all VIPER discussion has gone on here for quite some time.

The AC support has been appreciated, but I have begun to see some cross conversation between immunizations given in AC and immunizations given in VIPER.

While they are both educational, this thread, more than any I have been a part of, has the potential of leading to errors. Ed has worked diligently with Amazing Charts to fix database issues, that while cause no problems with VIPER entries and retrievals, did cause some errors in Meaningful use. Even though it is impossible now to write freelance for immunizations in VIPER, I suppose one could in the comments. But, even there, we would ask VIPER users to refrain from adding anything that is not taken from AC. I suppose comments could allow one to do that, but I may want to run that by Ed.

After spending four months with Ed fixing the problems, we don't want another issue. Maybe all the comments here are about VIPER, but they didn't seem to be. Maybe having another thread on vaccines on its own stemming from AC entry would be a good idea. If other posts here pertain to AC immunization entry, I will likely have to lock the thread only because of the issues discussed above.

Hi. I waited to see if Viper would be magically fixed for me like it was for Catherine but it hasn't been. Vaccines are populating fine on the main computer and on most of the secondary computers on my network but WILL NOT populate one computer. I have upgraded Viper to latest version, run maintainence, made sure the shared folder and SQL are correct and it still won't populate. All my patients are there though! Any thoughts? Anyone?
The culprit computer is a new one with Win7 but is not the only Win7 machine.

Soon, as soon as I get my pc up and running, lol, I will be moving this to a PM. Why? Because there are six people using VIPER. I know three for sure and three others emailed.

Part of the reason I want to move it is because questions about it should really remain among the six including Ed.

Don't get upset at my next comments. I think I have run into that situation, and I am sure (I think, lol) Ed or someone can fix it out. But, I see this happen ALL the time in issues with AC. A lot of users will always blame SQL or AC when it is their network. In your instance that fact that it works on the other computers and not your new one, begs to the fact that there is a network problem or something with the setup of that computer.

Think about it. That is your newest computer. That is your newest VIPER install. My best is their is an issue in the setup. If it were with all the computers, then....VIPER doesn't get many bugs. It is a very tight, well written program with very few updates. Until we had to make it MU compatible, which was actually a good thing, there hadn't been an update or a glitch in months.

We will try to help with more info. Meanwhile, go to the computers that work. Look how they are set up. Look at VIPER and how it is set up over and over.

I still think I remember a situation like this. I can't recall if it were with all of them. I will say that while it is helpful for my receptionist to be able to pull up and print labs, it is only mandatory for VIPER to work with my MA. So, is your new computer your MAs?

Yes it is my MAs. BTW I was not at ALL blaming SQL or AC or Viper. Since it is on the newer computer and all the others are working fine, I already figured the fault was with me not being able to figure out some arcane (well, arcane to me) aspect of networking or 'permissions' or something like that on that one computer. I was hoping Bert/Ed/other users would be generous (as they have been) and point me in the right direction

Sorry A.J., if that came across wrong. I just frustrated with myself because I have been trying to set up the PM, so we all know who we are, and we can be a bit more open about. We'll get it. Soon as I catch up and Ed catches up, lol.

I apologize again.

Just started using VIPER and noticed that the new high dose flu is not showing up in the pt summary in AC. Interestingly, it is in the chart if I look under high dose in the immuniz section of Health Mnt. Guessing glitch due to new vaccine addition. Other shots work fine.
