Quite often I get logged off when moving from the main screen of the boards to one of the other forums. Any guesses as to why? Thanks

Ha, does it happen on all browsers? Which one are you using? Do you check the box to remember you on each visit? ![[Linked Image from ]](/ub/attachments/usergals/2012/08/full-2987-346-acub.png)

Known issue with I.E. Switch to Firefox, and it won't happen. My guess is she has Remember me on each visit checked or she would have to log in each time, which would be an entirely different issue.

Besides, FF gives you spell check.

And lots of cool add-ons like AdBlock Plus (best add-on in the world), Download Statusbar, and Downthemall are the ones I recommend most people start out with. You can add themes and whatever else you want as well.

I use the keep me logged in box. Hoped since the boards have been upgraded and have a new fancy face, it might be addressed. Actually, it is different than before. Instead of not letting you stay logged in from visit to visit, it sporadically kicks you off when you change from the login screen to one of the discussions.

Have been using FireFox for a long time, especially in small-medium businesses; we install Ad-Block, Flash-block, and Script-block. Makes it much safer in work environments where folks click on links without checking them.
Chrome now has several of these add-ins as well.
I started using LastPass ~2 years ago, and they now have both browser plugins and an Android app that are very useful if you pay for their premium service (~$20/a year)

Use Chrome for awhile (with AdBlock and LastPass) and then open Firefox. You will be surprised how slow it is.

If you have an SSD, there's really no difference between the two. I will admit Chrome is better on older computers. Firefox is good for the power users. I have close to 20 add-ons and it loads instantly.

Chrome's adblock isn't nearly as good as Firefox's version. I also put on AdBlock and NoScript for secure browsing.

This has turned into a browser war, lol.
Question was: I get kicked out when I go from home page to forums.
Answer is: I.E.
Use any one you want.

This has turned into a browser war, lol. ..... Use any one you want. Based on this being a know issue with IE [h/t Bert], myself [and others] are offering some other browser options, along with relative merits. No war from me - I agree that everyone should know the options, and make their choices.

I agree that everyone should know the options, and make their choices. But of course some choices are better than others Just kidding. There are lots of other ones available Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera. Those four and IE are the big 5. Perhaps try running the forum in compatibility mode. Looks like a piece of paper in the address bar. But Indy is right, Chrome is continually growing while the other browsers are experiencing declines in growth. If I had an SSD, I'd use Firefox. If I didn't, I'd use Chrome.

I had this problem for a long time on internet explorer - somewhere along with upgrades it went away and I have never seen again. Ironically now many sites with PDF will not work on any of my Windows 7 with Adobe Reader X and will give an error....

Running in compatibility mode will likely solve the problem and will keep you out of the browser wars.

Steven, John and Vicki are likely the only ones here that remember that complete debacle of logging in and disappearing posts, etc.
Paul definitely remembers. I am not going to say who fixed that one.
But it was UBB hell.

Steven did you try reinstalling Acrobat? There was an update released recently.

I thought it was just that Bert got mad at me and kept logging me off....it was particularly bad since I could not remember my password. One bad time is when the whole board disappeared for a short time, I think you have to have been on here a few years to remember that.
I actually used to have Jon B's cell phone number and remember texting him when the whole system died...I got a thank you text back when he got whatever happened fixed.

Likely things like this won't happen given David is the technical admin for the past year.

@Vicki,
All that happened when the board turned blue was David added a GUI. It "shouldn't" have changed anything.
Basically, dump I.E. or run it in compatibility mode or use Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.
