As no one will give me my print to Updox button in AC (please please please), can AC at least put the four digit patient number on the patient summaries? That way they aren't sent to the wrong patient when they have to be reattached to send through Updox.

So for now, I have to print summary to Updox, then go to Updox and find the patient again to reattach. Then send to patient portal and back to EMR.

If there was a "Print to Updox" button, I would just have to hit one button.

Am I the only one out there that wants this super magical button???

According to Updox, AC has to give them access to parts of the AC program for them to do this. Others here would like this too.

I'd think AC would do this. In fact they do something similar for Practicom, where when you sign off on a chart I think the CCR is automatically uploaded to the patients portal/ehr account. Same with their labs.

I am actually very ignorant to this (but that has never stopped me in the past), but I thought I read on here that the print button was added?

Anyway, I would think that this would be UpDox's idea to move on. I would imagine if they went to AC, AC would oblige given the number of people who use UpDox.

My guess is this would be very simple to set up by a 3rd party person, but not sure if that would be worth it since it has to be in the works.

My recommendation would be to contact Tobin at tobin AT updox.com_removespam. He has a permanent membership on the board anyway. As you likely know, he is the lead developer for UpDox.

The print button I'm referring to would be a "Print to Patient Portal" button in AC. It is very cumbersome and error prone now to print labs from AC to Updox, then reattach to the correct patient in Updox (the patient doesn't stay attached to the printed lab in Updox), then send to patient portal from Updox (and cross your finger you did all this exactly right every time). There should be one button in AC that prints the results/patient summary/whatever directly to the patient portal. That way, there is no way the wrong result can be sent to the wrong patient. Updox says they would love to do it, but they need permission from AC. Bert, you are the most powerful one of us out there, so maybe you can help... smile

Let me see if I can clear things up a bit.

This may or may not obvious, but we (Updox) cannot change anything about how AC works. We can import (some) data into AC and we can read (some) data out of AC, but we can't add, remove, or change anything about AC's functionality. As such, we can't add a "Print to Portal" button to AC, or create some sort of auto-save feature, or add patient ID's to the print job names.

What we can do is provide AC with the tools they would need to be able to complete these tasks. We've done this exact type of integration with other EMR systems, so it's something we're both capable of and willing to do, but it does require cooperation with AC. It's not really a matter of AC giving us permission to do this, it's that AC would actually have to do some of the work themselves. There's a big difference between giving permission and finding the time and resources to do something yourself!

We would love to help AC add this level of integration, it would obviously be great for us, but it's not something we can just go and do ourselves (even if we had permission).

(and Bert, there has been some chatter on the forums about us adding a print button, but that's all internal to Updox and completely unrelated to the discussion at hand)
