Hello, Just wanted to let you know about Square Up. It is a way of taking credit cards for small businesses and save LOTS of $$$$.
They charge $2.75% flat rate, off the top and the money is in your BANK ACCOUNT in 24-48 hours. You can run it from an ipad, iphone, ipod, or android. There are no monthly fees and no hidden costs. I learned about this in a small busines course and have no financial incentive to share this. We were paying some ridiculous cost per month for that crazy machine plus double digit interest and it took forever to get our money.
If one of your front office staff have a smart phone, you can authorize them to take payments for you without accessing your account. You can email or text them a receipt or hand write a receipt. The acount can be accessed on a laptop or pc and the credit card info can be entered manually.
Hope this helps someone. I have received so much help from these boards.

Their website is: https://squareup.com/We had a party the day we boxed up that other machine that cost us so much money per month. I still can't get over it-2.75% off the top, no monthly fee, and in the account in 24-48 hours.

IMO- A word of caution to those looking for services. Before you hand over your card processing services to Square-up, carefully research it. It is not the right fit for many, and some of that has to do with operational processes and volume. There is zero point zero customer services with Square up, it is impossible to get through to a live person They randomly hold your funds hostage without recourse. In this case, I say, "you get what you pay for -or less!" You decide...JMHO
PS. Vicki -I'm not so sure it is a 2.75% across the board, there are hidden variables that raise that fee, such as swiping versus keying it in, and the amount charged. Be Careful Out There!

We figured out the average rate we pay (which varies according to the credit card), and it was better than SquareUp offers with their flat 2.75%. We use TSYS Merchant Solutions. We don't have a monthly fee, but we did buy the credit card machine, and we need to keep a fax line to send authorizations and payments.

I was surprised that no one else responded because I am always looking for ways to help cut down on expenses.
It's nice to have options. We love having the money in the bank within 24-48 hours with Square UP. We don't have a fax line at all because we use Updox and my cousin gave us an old Ipod to hook up to the wifi, so it works well for us.
Right after the transaction goes through, I get an email telling me it is being processed and I get another one when it is deposited.
Have a great day!

We use the Square, and have done so for a while (I posted about it a year or two ago). We are currently looking into the AC "partner" for credit cards and expect to sign up with them. We can't make the Square work with certain cards- including all Mastercards- without keying in the number, and that raises the cost. Since their customer support is SO limited, we have not been able to get the situation resolved. There are also issues with researching old transactions (e.g. when a patient claims they made a payment but we don't have a record of it).

Intuit also offers a similar plan to Square Up
