Is this a Maine Thing. Our NYS hardcopy Rx's have no place to put anything related to Insurance, be it Name of Carrier or Policy Numbers, or anything really.... Interesting...

Yeah, in Maine we just give them a blank script, and they write what they want, lol. Still, I just changed insurances, sent a script over and had to send a copy of the demographics. We can send our DEA number, license number, address, phone number, signature, etc., but we can't include a policy number, ID number and BIN number.

There's no place for the insurance number on NY scripts. Why should there be? The patient is supposed to present his/her insurance card at the pharmacy.

I have never presented my insurance card at a pharmacy. Just seems like a good place to include insurance information.
Give script Needs insurance info Include on script
We have patients all the time asking for demographics so they have their insurance info if they go to another pharmacy.
Just wondering.

. LOL. They wouldn't need to bug you with this question if they carried their insurance card.

Every so often I hear about an account of an established patient that could not be collected by our billers because the patient did not give us their new insurance card. Patients think that Medicare Advantage programs are still Medicare, etc..
My point is that the pharmacy should not believe whatever we would put on a prescription.

Bert, in Maine you should just send your bank account info on the Rx since Mainecare pays for everything, so you're going to be paying for it eventually anyway. lol Just cut out the middle man and buy all your patients prescriptions for them.
